My target promotion year is 2024. I will be on maternity leave until late May 2023 and have only half a performance year. Anyone gone through this before? Wondering it will be a struggle to prove myself in such a short amount of time and also if the pay bump would even be worth it.

Would you ever accept a ground-floor bedroom facing the street (but set back from the pavement) in London? Residential, upscale zone 2 neighbourhood (think Victoria Park Village, East Dulwich, Fulham), but like everywhere in London, there are some rougher bits nearby. I sleep with the window open for fresh air, so I’m concerned about burglary and assault (I’m a woman). There’s the option of using an internal bedroom instead, but it’s not nearly as nice as the street-facing one.
