Unrelated but flossing has kept my teeth pristine!

funny

Waterpik was huge for me. I never really made a habit of flossing (expander, braces and retainer made it miserable) until getting a waterpik. It allowed me to make the habit. If you were already good about flossing, the only benefit is massaging the gums and getting in the gum pockets, which aren't a huge deal if you're getting regular cleanings.

We go to Stellar Dental in NoDa, but it's meh. Certainly not bad, but nothing special either. We used to go to Pearl in uptown prior to WFH. It was very youthful, still nothing special. I luckily don't need the eye doctor yet, but my wife goes to Innovative Eye Care in Dilworth and loves it. Very modern approach, latest tech and so on.

Question… if you need a dentist, how do you know you need a root canal? Asking just because I know so many dentists who recommend unnecessary procedures.

like

To this day I wonder if the root canal I had was necessary

Also an Eye Doctor, just moved to Charlotte

South End Dentistry

I’d use Zocdoc

I would reccomend Pearl Dentistry in uptown. At first, the glossiness and cool vibe of the place gave me second thoughts, but the Dr (Jenny) was awesome and the experience is pretty cool (noise cancelling headphones and TV). It’s defintely not the cheapest, but as a person who has had a lot of work done, it’s not something you want to cheap out on

I think I paid something like $1k out of pocket for any root canal

Please go to an Endodontist not a dentist for a root canal. You will thank me later. Bonus points if they use a gentle wave machine

Anyone see a registered dietician without having a very pressing health issue (as in, stomach issues or obese)? I live alone and have loved the time not traveling but WFH has really started getting to me the past few weeks. On top of that, I got a series of bad news this week that really took a toll on my mental health (one has affected my ability to visit family), and I’ve never felt this alone in my life. I miss having an office to go to and see others in. Even started skipping workouts & cooking, both of which I love. Could use hugs and inspiration to get past this hump
