Boys, don't spoil your goals behind holes.

It may seem obvious, but in my experience partners value trial experience over anything else, so get it however you can. For example, my firm will favor a former prosecutor who has seen the courtroom a lot but has no civil litigation experience (not even a depo) over a seasoned associate who has only second chaired cases with a partner but hasn’t tried a case. Even trying a case and losing gives you credibility at my firm because you still did it.

Any of the sisters deal with gestational diabetes but already had a restrictive diet pre and during pregnancy?
Doctor says I have it, but I honestly don’t believe them. I don’t eat cane sugar (not even in sauces), gluten, dairy, or soy. So not surprised I couldn’t process their drink-I don’t consume stuff like that regularly. I walk a mile or do HIIT training 5x/ week. The condition doesn’t run in my family (and my mom has 4 sisters w/kids-good sample size) (cont’d in comments)

Super niche fields—- I’m a solo and I’m always interested in researching super niche fields to add to my offerings, which is currently mostly a transactional business practice. 6th year associate at a small 6 attorney PI/med-mal firm in the Northeast OH. Settled about $1.4M total on the year, fees are about 5x my total compensation. Largely 1-manned these cases, use very little overhead beyond my assistant who I share with a partner. Feeling self-conscious, am I doing alright here??

For a Rule 45 subpoena duces tecum, can I mail it to the stat agent for a company or LLC? I took a case over from another firm and they sent subpoenas with a process server who was unable to personally deliver the subpoenas to the stat agent. I have always just mailed them.

What “tech stack” does everyone use? I keep booking demos but would love to know what people use. The categories I’m looking for are billing, document management and document automation.

The small firm I work for has a terrible turn over rate and I think it is in part due to the firm owner/managing attorney. He seems oblivious to this and always finds fault with the people who leave. Is there any good way to approach this with him or am I better off keeping my mouth shut? It’s affecting my work because I keep losing assistants and paralegals and then having to get new ones caught up.
