Is anybody else struggling to plan during school hours? It’s my first year teaching all subjects and I CANNOT for the life of me get caught up. I feel like I’m constantly working to try and catch up. I am tired of taking stuff home every single night because I am losing family time. Any suggestions?
I’m curious if anyone uses an app or online format for lesson plans? I’m looking for a good way to streamline the process and hopefully cut down on some prep. Thank you in advance!
What are some of lessons you have taken from consulting; my new one: You can send emails up to 2000 feet down into Grand Canyon
I’m new here. I am also new to my grade level. I just moved to 5th grade and it will be my first year teaching 5th. My question is, do teachers share lesson plan/activity ideas here?
Got a bit too drunk at a work happy hour. Nothing embarrassing happened but I definitely blacked out and could’ve said stuff that I wouldn’t have said sober. Everyone else was also drinking quite a bit, so it was fine but not ideal and I’ve just been ashamed. Lesson learned. This happen to anyone? How do you get over the shame/anxiety of “what happened?”
Shit ain't always how it seems when it's so together. PwC life lesson. Take a second to get the play on words
Why exactly is it so hard for people to understand that ESL and Special Education teachers are in fact that: teachers? I'm bilingual so I constantly get called in to translate for parents in the office as well because it's so hard to get a hold of the district interpreter. Today I was teaching a lesson that took us on a scavenger hunt around the building and the nurse stopped me. "Oh! This is why I couldn't get a hold of you, you're playing!" What? I tilted my head and replied, "I'm TEACHING."
It seems like everyday my bosses are asking me to do something different with my lesson plans. I have to add something or elaborate. I wish I had more support and really just an example of excatly what they want.
Any pianists here? Considering getting a Roland fp30x. Thoughts/suggestions? I plan to signup for pianote and maybe some lessons as well. Ideas on a good starter digital piano as well as approach for online lessons or self learning are welcome. As for my current starting point, I don't know how to play any musical instruments, pretty much starting from scratch in my late 30s.
Heading home from a fun agility lesson 😊😊
First yr in NYC corporate group. Trying to schedule private lessons either at 8-9:30 pm on a weekday or around lunchtime on Saturdays. Is Saturday an obvious choice? Is it okay to respond to emails after 1.5~2 hr on weekends (obviously not when we’re signing/closing)
Apparently my default behavior to improve and increase efficiency doesn't work quite as well when it's telling other family members what to do in the kitchen. Lesson learned. Mom knows best.
Are you recording and posting all of your live lessons for absent students to watch later?
Had to attend to a friend who had a brain hemorrhage. LESSON LEARNT: If you have been having prolonged migraines for more than a couple of weeks please try to get a CT/MRI done to rule out anytg cont.
Over the last year I’ve had 4 separate interview cycles where after the final round I’ve gotten “you had all strong feedback but the team went with the other candidate.” It’s really insulting to hear these companies say that there isn’t enough qualified black candidates but have your own experience show you that you can do everything right but still you don’t get the offer due to not looking the part I guess
I secured a 2-year lease on my luxury studio during covid but am looking to transfer it to someone new around the 1-year mark (moving in with SO). Would it be reasonable to ask the new tenant to split the penalty with me (we each pay $2400) since they get to keep the low rent rate that I secured? The studio is back at market price now (~$1200 more than my current rent).
Considering applying to EYP for the SA Finance M&A role. Can any 🐠 share insight in culture, work hours, types of projects etc? Coming from MC
I wonder if it's a case of the Mondays on the bench or if my motivation will just never return...🤔
Any tricks to converting your Amex points into gift cards or some equivalent to get a better Amazon conversion? $70 for 10k points seems weak when a lot of the retailers do $100 for 10k.
How to best utilize your time when you’re on the bench? I have started some online learning, getting ready for CFA, exercising, cooking, reading books, but I still feel that I have plenty of unused time. And the routines are killing me too.
Fishes, Facebook reached out for a interview. I am on h1-b and wanted to understand if they are sponsoring GC amidst everything that is going on with the company? Thinking if I should even try.
Do I accept a job position in an area that I’m unsure if I like because I haven’t really practiced in it as much but the pay is really good? Or do I stay in a job position that allows me to work in the area that I think I’m interested in staying in long term but the pay is much lower? For reference I am a third year.
I am scared of returning to my empty classroom that sits in a covid hotspot. Its all I want to focus on but I can't...so many great things happened during the spring and summer and they never got celebrated. There's no time like the present! Let's drop the negative, mind numbing complaints (speaking to myself) and grow & glow through it
Sometimes it hurts to think about how well I know some airports. What terminals/airports were you frequenting before covid?
Have you ever negotiated your travel schedule? N00b to being in the road and PPD wants me to do a 10hr west to east coast flight plus a few hours driving to get to client site.
Is there a concensus on weather the 200k mba cost is a positive or negative ROI for those that are already in a post-mba role and will not get much of a pay bump from the mba? Assuming the post mba salary will be pretty much the same as if the person stayed for another 2yrs
Any Deloitters can share a little bit on how the pension works? From what I see 401k is 25% match of 6% of salary. Then pension is 1.5% of base?
Does EY promote remote work? If it is written primary location only does that mean no remote work?
If anyone has spare Delta drink today they don’t plan on using, I’d appreciate it greatly if you’d be willing to share! On a redeye and a bit nervous about flying, wasn’t able to get an upgrade to C+
What about the religious exemption? Who is eligible to claim it, and under what circumstances is the claim likely to be accepted? The short answer is: almost anyone can claim it, but not many will receive it. https://www.govexec.com/management/2021/09/how-will-religious-exemption-federal-employee-covid-19-vaccine-mandate-work/185572/
Anyone work at Quintairos Prieto Wood & Boyer? If so, which office? I have an interview and would love to ask a few questions about the interview process! I’m also curious about the firm culture and compensation.
I think my return to the office may start as early as July (as compared to September for general pop). While it’s long overdue and I’m actually looking forward to it, I’m going to miss a lot of the perks of wfh regularly (not having to wake up 1.5-2 hrs earlier to rush on my commute, dress shirt with pajama pants, no return commute, taking breaks on my couch with my kids, etc). What are you all thinking about this and when do you expect to start going back in?
