It’s been painfully slow this past month in my department (corporate law) and I had low hours throughout the summer. I’ve never refused work and have always sent an email to partners when I had slower months asking for more work. I’m definitely not going to hit my target. Should I be worried? Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. Any advice for working at a PEO? I’m recently certified HR pro and wanting to transition into a HR Generalist role to build my experience and I’m having a hard time with the job search. All of my hr experience is in higher education and no other industry. I want to transition out of higher education but I’m having a hard time. I applied for a HR Specialist with Insperity and I have an interview next week? Will working at PEO help build my HR experience or is it more of a sales role?

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

I’m an HR Generalist. My job is a mix of recruitment and Employee Relations. I find the recruitment aspect to be pretty enjoyable and stress free, but the Employee Relations aspect does often give me a lot of anxiety (I’m a very anxious person to begin with). Recently, it’s been worse because I have several ER cases currently that seem like they could be potentially turning into lawsuits. Do others in ER experience these anxieties? If so, how do you manage them?

Hi! I interviewed for an HRBP position and the interview process lasted 6 weeks. I met with several people within the company. I provided my salary range in my initial interview and it was in range. I was provided a verbal offer and it was at the bottom of my range. I negotiated a sign on bonus and then the hiring manager said they wanted to down grade the position to a AHRBP with the same salary and sign on. The in house Recruiter called last week that the base will now be 15k less. Thoughts?
