Pistachios, popcorn, or jerky for saltiness; strawberries and mangos for sweetness.

Peanut butter and banana is also a go to.

As a vegetarian, I’ll throw out the new Beyond jerky. Low calorie, high protein, tastes pretty good, and honestly is a pretty good facsimile of the real thing. High salt content, but otherwise a game changer in the healthy vegetarian snack game.

I mean, I don’t know how it is after sitting for months. Probably fine, being jerky. But yes, I think it is really tasty! A nice smoky, meaty flavor, and the consistency I’m looking for in jerky. Definitely a top tier vegetarian product in my opinion.

Apples are good. I also like dehydrated fruit or dehydrated vegetables with salt.

like

Sliced apples and cucumbers and toasted almonds. Relatively tasty, filling, and healthy.

I once was a CISA… I have no IT background, no IT degrees (2 ACCT degrees tho); never did/saw a shred of an IT audit/assurance work/client/OTJ training of any kind. Forced by employer to choose CISA vs CPA, CISA was way more feasible at the time. I passed 1st try. My firm had zero IT work. So all my CPE reqs lapsed, and my cert expired w/ zero resume material to show for it. I see IT Auditors paid WAY more. I’d love that! I’d re-sit. But idk my head from my ass about practical application.

At what degree of distraction do you stop billing? I ask because it’s impossible to work at a peak level for an entire day. So how do you think about times when you are working but being **slow**? I've only been in biglaw for a year, but have been practicing for seven years so far. I used to be a state regulator for this practice area and generally enjoy working at a private firm. A partner at a boutique firm that I'm friends with has called me every few months to check-in and see how I'm doing. During our last call he essentially offered a job after I get another year of experience in private practice. Five year track to partnership. No billable hours.

How many billable hours do you aim for per month? Thinking of lateraling to a firm with no official hours target and wondering what I should be aiming for - is 170/mo (2000 per year) acceptable? Don’t want to burn out but also don’t want to get fired lol. I also understand there’s little control over how much I’ll work but just wondering what y’all think is good enough.

Anyone else "struggling" financially? I know, it sounds ridiculous. Two kids (pre-school), mortgage (10 yr I/O), loans (but not huge), full time nanny (7 to 7), and just life expenses. Wife also works full time and does decent. We both max out our 401k, but after all our expenses, at the end of each month, I'm stoked if we can save a dollar. And struggling is definitely the wrong word, but just curious if any other mid/seniors feel the same or had any tips. We live in Los Angeles.
