Need some advice here.I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future even for an ML role?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Google Microsoft Adobe Citi Barclays Bank of America

The Economist
The Economist has an app called Espresso that has 5-10 world event blurbs each day, each story is only 5-10 sentences. Goal is you can read it during your morning coffee/shit. Great for staying up on current world politics and economics without taking too much time.
"Past affairs" = history
The skimm !
^ I second the Skimm suggestion - I get it every morning. Foreign Policy also does an email digest each morning. If you want to brush up on history, try the Hardcore History podcasts - they're so good!! My favorite was probably the series on the Mongols
Agree with A1. I would also highly recommend Foreign Affairs in addition to subscribing to Ian Bremmer's podcasts/video updates. Additionally, the Council on Foreign Relations features wonderful and informative podcasts that you can listen to on the way to work. I swear by the world this week.
WashPo, NYT, WSJ, FT, Reuters, Bloomberg, Economist. Try some of these out, then eventually subscribe to a few that you like and just read them on a daily basis. Op-Ed pieces are always good too.
Sign up for news emails like bit of news or skimmed. And even by browsing through the titles every morning you can at least pick up the references when people talk a out stuff.
WSJ. That's it. Will be boring at first but you'll come to love it.
I signed up for two e-newsletters: Skimm and Morning Brew. Skimm keeps me up to date on politics and world news, and the Brew updates me with anything business related.
