Any recommendations for nice leather backpacks for work? I have about an hour’s commute by public transport and will be in the office for a couple days a week, so will need something comfortable (but hopefully nice) to lug my stuff back and forth. Any suggestions?

I got the Kaya Laptop Backpack from Callao and absolutely love it! It’s my favorite backpack I’ve ever had and it looks so professional. Cannot say enough good things about it.

Prefer shiny nylon ones. There is a samsonite one that looks great, has tons of pockets and is way less expensive. Love mine.

It’s really nice but wish there was dedicated zipper for laptop sleeve. I travel a lot and this is one of the most annoying things about my current backpack. But samsonite do have some good options. Thanks for the recco!

I’m currently a junior associate in a boutique litigation firm handling IP. I’ve taken a depo already, will argue in court next month and by all accounts, I am great at it. But I’m miserable. I find the games with opposing counsel exhausting and I despise writing briefs (even if I’m good at it). My pre-law school job was in public relations and I chose litigation because I like to win, but I’m now realizing I like success more than the win-lose. Feeling lost… should I move to transactional?

Hey ladies. I just had surgery today and I am out on short term disability until further notice. I am most like going to get a once in a life time job offer by a big law firm at the end of the week. The petty side of me wants to just tell them I’m not coming back but the business woman in me is saying to leave amicably and try to bring them in as client. ... cont in com

Making the switch from public to private sector. What questions do you wish you would have asked about your firm in informational interviews?

So I posted a bit ago about getting IV hydration and vitamins. You guys gave me the courage to try it. After I had it done, I didn't feel much of a difference and figured I just spent a bunch of $ to relax for an hour in a massage chair. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But this has been the best week I've had energy-wise in the last seven months. And I kind of wish I could post before/after pics because apparently I was very bloated. I've been focusing on keeping up with my hydration at home. Thx ladies!

Anyone have three kids and working in big law? I just found out I’m pregnant with no. 3 and it’s been a lot trying to juggle morning sickness, but based on my experience, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. My husband and I are elated, but the anxiety of being a mom of 3 kids and working in big law is preventing me from truly enjoying this news. It would be good to know what it’s really like having 3 kids so that I can evaluate how long I really have left in big law.

A senior associate in my group just found out her spouse has cancer. I am a first year, and she has been an amazing mentor to me since I started (and before when I was a summer associate). Any advice on how I should offer support? A card feels insignificant in light of the situation, but I'm sort of at a loss for how else to show I'm thinking of her and her family during this time.

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".
