I recently learned that a new hire is making significantly more than me. I currently make $58K but am expecting a $10K raise soon. The new hire is making $78K. Their position does not have a bigger work load than me. If anything my position has a larger workload and is more crucial to the organization. I also helped fill in some gaps while we were trying to hire someone for this position. I plan to ask my boss for $80K. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

It has been impossible to build a good relationship with my manager, he isn’t transparent with me and never provides any constructive feedback so I have no idea how I’m performing. I just got an offer at a series B startup and it was my 1st choice, however now I’m seeing that their maternity leave benefit really stinks (12 weeks paid at 67% of salary with a cap of $1000/week and I’d still have to pay health insurance). Considering the uncertainty in the economy along with this crummy benefit, should I keep looking or take a chance and hope for the best?

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

For a top Producer of 3 years, is it appropriate to now ask for a raise in my base pay? Base was 42,500 when I started, but now inflation + 2 children later the base pay barely gets me by. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Bay Area licensed producer in life accident and health Seeking a producer position in employee benefits where there is a good base salary + commissions pay structure, or a salaried position in marketing or account management/benefits consulting where I can earn 50% commissions on groups I sell in addition to my salary. These are my current options so I know it exist. I’m an account manager who is licensed and can write my own groups, and I will get 50% of the commission.

I recently got a promotion in my company to work as a Junior CSR in Commercial Lines but I also got a job offer elsewhere to work in the entertainment insurance industry as an Associate. I got the RIBO license in January.
