Zoom drinking games
This may not be the right time but can the leader of this bowl set up a zoom meeting where the African immigrant and African American can have an open and honest panel discussion in a respectful way? Apparently there is a lot of differences and misunderstanding between us and this could be a step forward. We are all black and have to come together and have one voice. Let's fix each other instead of fighting each other. Let me know your thoughts.
Imagine, instead of Meet the Parents, a movie called Meet the Partners where an analyst anxiously waits in an introductory zoom call with the project partner only to receive a “pls reschedule” an hour later. What’s your best consulting spin-off of a movie?
When you try to cite a tax reg in Skype for Business and send a kissy face and a flower instead...fml.
Anyone interested in a virtual networking event via zoom? Could help expand our network during this disruptive time - thoughts?
What’s everyone’s favorite zoom background?
San Lorenzo Adult school registration is open for ESL and High School Diploma classes. All classes are online through Zoom. Registration ends Friday, February 12 @ 5:00pm. Register at. https://adu.slzusd.org/
Something a little more fun that got me thinking - attended a Zoom dinner party with a French guest and an English guest. They asked what typical American dinners are. I didn’t quite know how to answer fairly since I’m from the Midwest, and that answer can be so regional, not to mention cultural! What are the two meals you think of first when you think of your families? Definitely interested in anyone who is not American too!
The most haunting things this Halloween are the Microsoft Teams pings I hear in my sleep.
What are the etiquettes for brainstorming over hangout/zoom with creatives for you? Personally I find it really hard to keep everyone’s energy up.
When everyone is getting more than they’re full of Zoom meetings, what are some other ways to keep employees engaged, connected, and feeling like they’re part of something important?
Want to join a book club where we read classic books and discuss via zoom or chat. Didn’t get to put myself through college, so missed out on this sort of thing - but absolutely loved doing this in high school! I feel like it would be enjoyable to get through the hard reads together. Any leads?
Friend wants to join consulting for the pay. I don’t believe she has the aptitude or energy for it. We worked together in a much slower industry, and even there she complained of being overworked. I’ve sent her resources to polish up her resume and links for roles but she’s insisting on texting/long phone calls asking silly questions. Today she wants a resume review over zoom! She comes without having done her homework. How do I tell her I’ve given as much as I can? How do I decline referring?
How - literally how - do I ask people to respect home/ work boundaries without coming off difficult? I feel burnt out from zooms, the noise from Slack and then the f**king SMSs that arrive on my personal cellphone. It’s like being watched 24/7. At the beginning we had an idealistic ‘no meetings 1-2pm’ block in everyone’s calendar but it lasted about 2 weeks. Also I actually resent being contacted constantly on my personal phone when I don’t have a work one.
Hi everyone 🎅! I'm looking to join online communities (like this one) for people in customer success. Particularly Slack groups. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!
Referral for an interview for a dream job, emailed availability for Zoom meeting to the interviewer. Never heard back. Got an email this morning saying they waited on zoom for ten minutes but I was a no show. I looked at google calendar and the meeting was there, but never received a notification, email, etc. I emailed back immediately and apologized and they agreed to do it tomorrow. What do I say?
Started a project ~3 weeks ago. So far it’s only been myself & my PM. A new person joined this week. Should I reach out and introduce myself to him? Was thinking an email/quick slack message welcoming him to the team? I know I would’ve liked that when I joined.
With the 2022 Robert Half salary guide recently getting released, do you feel it’s pretty accurate or not?
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
How much is utilization factored into raises?
PwC NYC advisory - what’s the max realistic salary? have 10 years of consulting under my belt, 2-3 years as manager.
I’m pretty introverted (I’m not necessarily shy, it just takes a lot to me to open up and I’d prefer not to if I don’t have to) and I’ve found this is making interviews hard for me. Any advice?
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?
From reading this app. I realize we have it really well at EY. Deloitte doing major layoffs, KMPG has to come in at the crack of dawn, PwC well the hours..
Looking for reviews on Avalara Inc. Any inputs or feedback about the company & working there? Should we consider a position at manager+ level?
Please please tell me second trimester gets better. I’m struggling with vomiting through my first (at 8 weeks now). B6 plus unisom not helping, I throw them up as well. My doc put me on reglan which makes things little bit better. But I’m not sure how I’m going to survive rest of my pregnancy.
Art Directors and Designers, what does your WFH work station look like? I’d like to upgrade mine to be more robust than just my laptop.
I’m starting a new ECD job in two weeks. Feeling like an imposter. What do i need to do that’s different than being a CD? (The CCO is very involved so it’s probably closer to a GCD in role)
I have an on-site interview that's on a Friday. Is it reasonable to ask the company to fly me back on a Sunday instead of Friday so I can explore the city I'd be moving to?
Is it still a bad time to move to NYC? Would be WFH but wanting to get it over with and get out of parent’s house. Would be coming from FL so assuming it’ll be quite a shock moving there
Considering PE, but concerned that the work-life balance is just as onerous, if not much worse, than consulting. Can PE folks be great at their job and have some semblance of a family life (ie evenings with fam, mostly free wknds, vacations without interruptions)? Don’t want to be an absent father
I'd love to hear about what people are doing to stand out in providing feedback for candidates who made it to the final interview stage but did not make the offer.
Any recommendations on black, high heels that do not get scuffed? I have gone through dozens of black, high heels because the leather gets torn, scuffed, etc. I usually buy brands such as Steve Madden, Nine West, Aldo, etc. Or anyone have a recommendation on how to repair the heels or know if it's worth it to get a cobbler to fix? Photo attached for reference.
Do you give yourself a lunch break when you WFH?
Is there any reason other than “United pays for it” that ORD has the stupidest uber pickup scheme of all time?
What apps/systems do you use to keep track of all your projects and tasks for the various matters you're working on? I recently took on a more senior associate role and am juggling even more projects and assignments than before. I want to make sure I am putting my best foot forward and keeping track of everything I'm juggling so I don't drop something by accident.
