I really enjoyed Nice and Montpellier!
Nice is one of my favorite places I’ve been in Europe. It is incredibly beautiful with rocky beaches and a lot of historic buildings. I also love art and they have great museums with a lot of work from Matisse, Chagall and de Saint Phalle. The food is amazing too and you can get really really good mussels. Montpellier is a lot smaller, but still beautiful, I stayed in an Airbnb with a little balcony overlooking the main square and we would sit and drink wine on the balcony at night. There’s not as many “activities” but the architecture is beautiful and the food is amazing and it’s also very romantic (if that’s what you’re looking for hahah). This is my brief overview, but feel free to DM me if you want to know more about why I liked it or my recommendations!
I lived in Bordeaux for a month a few years ago and loved it! We also did a few day trips to Arcachon for the beach. 🏖 Wonderful wine country, delicious food and a very walkable city. Tons of history to see and the big fountain is beautiful. I enjoyed Bordeaux more than Paris. When you’re looking for some late night street food, get a kebab sandwich and fries with extra white sauce.
Just came from there. Mougins is super cute and right next to Cannes. Both great
Nice and Antibes! Monaco for a day trip :)
Nice is probably my favorite city in France. Avoid Marseille like the plague
I just found it to be rather dirty and bit seedy. Especially when comparing to Nice, Cannes etc. lots of littering. Nice is definitely more tourist friendly. I’ve been to both a few times and for a vacation perspective would definitely not choose Marseille except for a cheaper flight. It’s a much larger city than Nice and has issues that come with being a large city. I believe it is the next largest city after Paris (another city I don’t love). For a vacation in south of France it would be at the bottom of my list.
