What’re your thoughts on corporate development? Is it a good place to grow your career if you want to transition to PE?

I'm new to this space so looking for direction.
I work in DDV and in addition to PMO, my work involves organising workshops & working with leaders to strategize direction of the company, key initiatives to focus on and organize priorities around that. Recently I had a call with a recruiter whose attitude felt rather reductive with him saying "if you're doing PMI that's just PMO work. None of my clients are really interested, we want strategic focus"
Any tips on how to communicate my fit better?

I moved from tax to consulting with a goal of eventually moving to strategy consulting. In tax, I was encouraged to get my CPA and have scheduled my exam for the end of the year. Now that I am in a different LOS but with strategy as a goal in mind, is it still worth while to take the CPA from your experience? Note that this is the first part that I’m taking. TLDR: is the CPA of any value to where I want to get to (strategy consulting)? Also considering MBA if I can’t make the switch via network

New Yorkers: What are you paying in rent these days? Im single in my late 20s making 155k and recently decided to finally get my own place w/o roommates. Paying $2600/mo (2300 net) for a studio. It's an elevator building in Manhattan with a concierge etc. Before this I was only paying 1200 with roommates. I am still trying to get used to justifying this price tag every month for something I dont own.
