It’s two hours. You don’t really need to do anything. Or at least I never had to. I was doing the opposite trip and didn’t have any problems.
Ignore A1 - West to East is way different than East to West. An 8 am meeting CT is 9 am ET (piece of cake) 6 am PT (FML). No way anyone in PT can be functioning on same level as someone in ET/CT.
Did the West to Central thing for a year. Tried Benedryl but it left me foggy next morning. Tried melatonin. Total joke. Finally got Ambien. I take I on Sundays and then every other day to adjust.
When I'm working from home for a week in California I split the difference. Get up at 6 am instead of 5 am. Asleep by 11 pm instead of 10 pm etc.
No coffee after 2. No gym after 8.
Thanks A2. I should have mentioned I wake up at 5:30 to workout with the team before client site, hence the need for more actionable advice. I'll see if I can get ahold of ambien to help with the schedule adjustment
A1 is right. 2 hours you can just stuck up. On East cost project I just split the difference. Way up an hour early on the weekend back on the west coast and kind of keep the same schedule. But then I am too old to party every weekend.
Melatonin. Get the highest rated one on Amazon - has purple cap. Am total insomniac but that shit works.
Gym on Mondays to help you sleep early. Avoid coffee after 1 pm on sundays. I did central to west coast for almost a year
Just be careful and disciplined with it. Don't use it every day. I usually do the first couple of nights to adjust for CT. Ask your doctor to give you a limited amount at a low dose. It is addictive and I don't normally advocate something like this but sleep is important as well.
Cut out the drinking during the week and you will be fine. At least, that’s my solution. When I’m not drinking I can generally go to bed whenever I want and also am well rested in the morning.
