I’m 50 and would like to retire early at 55 so that I will be in good health to volunteer, take classes, travel, socialize with friends, and play tennis. Kids will be out of college and will have no debt. What annual after-tax income stream would you consider enough to safely retire early? I know it’s all based on personal lifestyle choices, but wanted to see if there’s a consensus.

Any advice for how to decline travel? Partner is pushing for us to go but there is a delta variant and I want to be able to spend time with my family without worrying I’ll infect them. The team culture is quite toxic (these people berate each other daily) so I feel uncomfortable speaking up, but I really don’t see a good reason for going there to do work I can do from home.

I was doing the hiring interview for an experienced hire last week, in our technology consulting practice. I discussed the career level, specialty group, type of work, etc. The candidate then said that they would only accept the offer if it allowed them to work from home, indefinitely. Have others encountered such a request? BTW, no offer was extended. I couldn’t commit to “indefinite WFH”, when clients often require us on-site and with out-of-town travel.

Hi Fishes,

Need some information!!

I have an offer from Capgemini engineering. The Joining bonus payout, i believe, is done at the end of first month. Is the tax on JB deducted straight away during the payout, or is it deducted at the end of the Financial year?

Also, for Capgemini engineering the ID cards and payslip will be from Capgemini or Altran or Aricent?

Thanks in advance.

Just saw a Facebook short where a woman was saying she made $180k as a first year corporate associate and the comments didn’t believe her. A lot of the comments consisted of “no way, only partners at law firms make that much money!” when she said she was into the $200k zone a few years later.

I don’t really have a point I’m trying to make, I just think the public perception is really interesting compared to what we talk about here. I feel very lucky to be where I am all things considered.

My daughter (age 9) eats too much. I've tried telling her to only eat when hungry, to drink more water, etc on occasion so I don't cause any eating disorder issues. Ive never mentioned anything about weight, but that we must eat healthy and exercise to take care of our bodies. But she still eats so much (constant snacking, large meals, etc).
Asking for tips and advice on how to handle this without causing any eating disorders/self esteem issues.
