Any runners here who have experienced shin splints? I run on mountain trails with a lot of elevation gains. Currently training for an ultra event and just got shin splints. What is the best and fastest way to recover from it while not losing all the trainings I've done for months.

Stretch your calves!! Make sure you are running in the correct shoes for your foot strike. Aquarun/swim/bike to maintain cardio

Keep the vert low for a bit. Even pivot to roads for a week or two. Do mountain leg exercises (check out trail runner) to maintain muscle memory.

I had shin splints in high school and couldn’t figure out how to prevent it until I was told what causes it. Basically running or lifting (think calf raises) only work the parts of your calf muscle that extend your foot towards the ground. You run a lot I assume so you’re getting a lot of work on those muscles, but the ones that “pull” your foot towards your shin are being neglected. What helped me was having my friend hold my feet down while I was sitting on the ground with my legs extended, and “pulling” my feet towards my shin with resistance. 3 sets of 20 every day did the trick. Hope this helps

Anybody has any contacts in Arthur Little? Have an interview lined up next week. LinkedIn not that helpful.

I am debating doing a solo trip (no idea to where) but I’ve never done one before. I’m scared it’ll be super lonely and I’m not sure how dining alone would be. I am also worried about safety (I’m a woman in my early 30s). Most of my friends are married with kids and I’m single so hard to plan a trip with friends, this the solo trip idea. Any tips / thoughts? Budget isn’t really an issue.

Is it only me or someone else has also faced a problem while being interviewed by female interviewer.I have faced similar kind of problems in multiple interviews like not even giving a chance to think about code solution and immediately shooting next question, interrupting in the middle while giving an explanation, trying to cover list of questions within short time, some even laughed while I was answering. It kind of feels low and demotivated after going through such evaluation.

Seeking suggestions: HOPEFULLY about to start a new job on May 2 after a crappy and ill timed lay off. Boyfriend says after I sign a contract (hopefully this week) I should lean into YOLO and do a quickie solo adventure. I live in NYC, love beaches, mountains, Europe, hiking, wine, cool historic towns, beer, amazing new food, seafood, museums, walking tours, etc. Suggestions for an *affordable* 3-7 day adventure in spring?

Mask mandates in the US for a certain amount of time will never work, it needs to be played like a game. There needs to be a goal (stanley cup) and strict enforcement (referees). Can’t just say “masks should be worn until 12/31”. There’s no incentive to wear a mask since they won’t cut it short if we do well and will extend it if we don’t do well. Also why a national mandate will do nothing. Imagine telling someone in NY they have to keep wearing masks because Cali can’t enforce anything
