Organic social is less about awareness and more about retention.
I think about it this way - obviously yes, upper funnel awareness-driving paid social campaigns are the way to increase penetration. But it’s a critical error to forget about the folks who are already followers/invested in your brand. That is a high-value community to retain and re-activate. And driving lifetime value vs exclusively focusing on new purchasers has tangible business impact.
I didn’t get a notification for your comment, and appreciate the input! I fully believe in retention as well but there’s another issue with this piece. 😭
My issue is upper management believes the only followers we have are employees, so they don’t feel there’s retention as well.
I’ve used data to show that our demographics aren’t just employees (by location, company size, language, etc), but they don’t believe me on this piece as well.
No reco here but this is really tough. It’s difficult to make money when you won’t invest resources to be successful.
Would be careful about investing too heavily in organic (particularly creating expensive content) if no one will see due to lack of amplification.
Thank you for your response I do appreciate it! That’s what we’re trying to be mindful of so glad you advised that for alignment.
Management wants us to do more, but can’t push much since we’re already stretched so thin on resources like bandwidth and creative resources, and teams not wanting to partner whatsoever.
I once visited the Facebook office, they told me that it takes 20 impressions on average to sell a bar of Dove soap.
Is it okay I message you for this piece? It’s pretty niche so I’d like to keep it private. 😅
