Any suggestions for an organizational/organization expert, coach, or someone that helps with getting firms organized? We need to be more efficient and have better systems in place.

Brief problem: We feel that we (partners) are unorganized, and as a result our staff is following the same disorganized structure and we’re not getting as much work/tasks completed as we should.

I need someone to help whip us into shape.

Highly recommend the Law Mentor podcast. Alison gives great tips to be more efficient.

I have a consultant I used. She works remotely and is great!

I would be interested in talking to you. I started my own firm a little over a year and a half ago after working at a prior firm that purchased and merged another firm in. It was quite an experience, but I absolutely loved working on the logistics.

I left my prior firm in part because there were inefficiencies that were impeding the firm’s success. Since I have left, the owner advised me that she has put at least one of my requests in place and it appears they have incorporated more requests into their firm as well.

Logistics has always been something I have helped with wherever I have been.

I considered being a business coach at one point, but I wanted to actually get in the business and work on logistics instead of asking questions that help owners realize they need to make changes.

Feel free to send me a DM if you are interested in talking further. Great job recognizing the need for some possible change! That is such a difficult process to go through sometimes.

Hi all. Hubs and I have been trying to get pregnant for a few years with no luck. Tried IUI, no success. I’m scared of IVF and the toll it takes on your body but we may be looking at that soon.
But I want to keep trying naturally for 6 more months.
I’m a relatively healthy-ish person but wondering what I can do diet-wise.
What healthy diets did you go on? What foods did you cut out/introduce? My naturopath told us both to reduce red meat and dairy.

Solo looking to find another solo to merge with. Recruiters are option but want to know if there is other options. Placing an ad? Where? Apps for finding a partner? What options are out there?

I started a solo criminal defense practice last November. I am considering taking contract in a totally different area of law (nursing home defense) to help ease the pressure of not having a full client load. How much do contract attorneys make? Any other considerations other than salary and timelines that I should be thinking about?

I’m a 3rd year insurance defense attorney in a small town. So far this year through June I’ve billed $110,000 and collected $95,000. I expect the second half of the year to be about the same. My salary is $53,000, with potentially bonus at the end of the year (totally the discretion of the partners). Benefits are fine but nothing special. Am I being undercompensated? I enjoy where I live, the work I do, and the low cost of living, but it’s hard to build up savings on my current salary.

I have a college student wanting to intern at my new solo firm this summer. I totally can’t afford to pay her, but I also don’t plan on making her “work” but instead will teach her and add value through her internship experience. Is this permissible? Do I need to be cautious for any reason?

Thoughts...10+ years practical/management experience in/around legal field in FL (includes state government, in-house non-profit, civil practice, etc.). Two years ago took a job to relocate closer to where I want to be...but not sure if being valued and compensated appropriately. It’s a smaller firm, salary $75k, not too much in way of bonuses so maybe $5k, but always step up to plate with assisting management as leader for operational contributions and I meet annual revenue goals around $300k.

Q for associates in boutique litigation firms: When you’ve drafted a complaint/motion/brief to be filed, do the partners allow you to actually sign the filing in your own name? For context, I’m a new associate at a class action firm where there’s ample opportunity to do substantive work & pursue your own case ideas from the get go. Today, I’m getting ready to file a complaint I drafted when a partner told me to remove my signature & insert his instead. Is this standard?

I am awaiting my bar results and am working at the solo practitioner’s firm I was at all thru law school. My boss does strictly family law but has known since my first summer that my interest is personal injury, particularly med mal. Boss is allowing me (once licensed) to take PI cases and eventually med mal cases. I am essentially going to be building my own practice. I would appreciate any advice you might have for someone in my position. Thank you.

I’m early into my career, thinking of leaving a midsize med mal firm to open a solo practice in business law but don’t have a ton experience in that area. Is this insane?

Any bankruptcy attorneys for CA Southern District looking to contract on a matter? Brief facts: Husband and wife dissolution finalized then husband filed for bankruptcy, now they’re going after wife’s assets, which were her separate property during the marriage.

TL;DR: having trouble fitting in with the rest of the attorneys in my firm being super young compared to the rest of them. Not sure how to navigate.

Just started in June at a small firm where I’m the 7th attorney. I’m a K-JD and just passed the bar in August (🥳), making this my first real law job. The next associate is 10 years older than me. Everyone has spouses and at least one kid. All they talk about is said spouses and kids. I have none of that. Being social w/them is super hard. Help?
