Any suggestions for apps/technology that are must-haves for a new, solo GC? I'm being tasked with spearheading a big M&A project (in addition to managing all other legal affairs) and will need all the help I can get to stay on track since I do not have an assistant. Any and all suggestions that relate to (calendar, planner/reminder, legal research, M&A, doc mgmt, apps, etc...) or anything else that might be considered a life-hack for a new GC are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Hi. I recommend using SharePoint as a document management system and for project step plans. It is simple to use and reminders can be set against critical items and milestones. it can also be integrated directly to your email.

Do you mind sharing at what stage you might be in the process and how long is the transaction likely to take? This would determine whether you need to formally set out any playbook etc. Also, is outside counsel involved?

For legal research, practical law is helpful in case you need to study up on discreet topics.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Does anyone know any companies that offer project coordinator positions in LA, California (state) or remote for undergrads or people without a bachelor’s degree? I’ve been trying to apply to one but they all require a bachelor’s degree and I’m currently an undergrad.

Passed on promo due to CPA. Now I am significantly below market and I know that my firm is not going to give me a 30-40% increase in compensation when I am promoted. I am considering taking off until mid July to pass the exams. Should wait until I re-enter the market and apply for roles or should I seek manager positions now with a delayed start date?
