Any suggestions for classroom management? I push in and pull out - when I push in to the classroom the kids are well behaved.. it’s when I pull them out is when they start to get all silly!

Set up boundaries and strict rules. Take a step back from teaching academics and go over rules and regulations for your room. Especially have the kids help create the rules with you so they feel like they have input

I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

At this point, I’m looking forward to telling opposing counsel in this one case that I’m leaving my firm more than telling my firm. Between the ridiculous theory of the case, the truly obnoxious discovery requests, and the self-righteous attitude, I can’t wait to never talk to this guy again.

How do you deal with bosses or clients who throw tantrums? Either ranting about something or being passive aggressive and snarky? I usually just smile and take it, but I don’t feel like we get paid enough to deal with this stuff as often as we do in audit.

Have been at my new job for about 3 months now. At first the team was somewhat friendly and open to any questions I had. At this point I barely have any questions but if I do I basically get ignored and don’t get a response. Sometimes they can be cold and rude as well. I also feel there are still some things I need to learn and have no idea when they will get to training me on it. Not trying to take it personal but definitely feel on edge about it.

It’s snowing in NYC and we’re still open for in-person instruction. Regardless of whether you think school’s should be open, moved to virtual learning, or just closed entirely, when students are asked to engage from home, do you feel like there’s anything that can be done to continue their learning even though they’re not in the classroom / lab?

I am looking for ideas for a high school intervention class with students reading at PP-4th. I am a brand new teacher and have never taught intervention but we are extremely short staffed. I inherited the class mid-last semester and the former teacher had no framework whatsoever. I'm pulling grade level texts and trying to work on reading fluency and comprehension but don't feel like what I'm doing is effective, and the students are not very engaged. Any great resources I should check out?

Looking for suggestions.
I'm a scotch whisky drinker, pretty much exclusively, apart from a few select Irish bottles. Live in Ireland. So go tos would be Springbank, Kilkerran, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Arran, Highland Park, Glengoyne...

On many visits to the US I've tried various Bourbons. Never very successful. Always seemed overly sweet and syrupy to my palette.

But I'm sure there are great choices out there.

What would you suggest as quality American whiskies for a scotch fanatic?

Tips for billing properly? I feel like I'm constantly working yet not billing enough of it. I know you never bill 100% of the time worked, but I don't think I'm doing it right (I'm a first year). E.g. I find it difficult to switch timers each time I respond to an email so I tend to forget.

The Houston mayor put pen to paper, signing an executive order addressing low level crimes like petty theft. Petty crimes will now be ignored because they are not deemed important enough. This is what criminal justice reform looks like in a democratic city. I am a Latino who has never voted for a republican, but after these last few months, my entire family and I are voting red. Does anyone currently use Summit Learning?

Hi SpEd Teachers, is anyone else facing EXTREME staff shortages as a result of state funding? We are not able to meet my students' IEP requirements (not even close) due to not enough paraprofessionals and the district flat out refusing to hire more. I've lost 70+ hrs/week of para hours over the past few years and my students are really suffering. This leaves our district open to lawsuits, but the real problem is the state's education budget. What can we do?? This isn't going to fix itself.
