B4 on the resume gives you a leg up. I liked the constantly changing and faster pace of the B4 environment but hated the clients, politics (yes there’s still politics in industry but it’s a different kind), charging time, only being in a small part of the company’s tax and just the big grind to sell services. When I changed to industry I picked a company that was fast growing through acquisitions and organically that way I got to get all the technical exposure and changing environment that keeps me engaged but didn’t have to deal with all the other BS that was at a B4. Now there is still BS in industry and you will never find a job that checks all the boxes but I’ll happy with my move.

Hello everyone, I just joined this bowl and have a very basic question. I have a humanities background in terms of academics which means I haven't studied maths or cs as a subject since high school. I'm currently working as an Analyst and recently graduated with a degree in BA Economics and History. I need to know if 1. it's possible for me to transition to a PM role in the next 4 years and 2. if yes, how? Thanks already for reading this far, have a good day!

Hi All, I recently interviewed at Amazon and Google for software engineer and passed both interviews. I have an offer on the table from Amazon but with Google I am officially in team matching and my recruiter tells me that the queue is pretty backed up now and it can take a long time. My question is should I take the Amazon offer now or decline Amazon and hold out for Google? I have heard that Google has better wlb/benefits. But I'm scared to decline Amazon without a guaranteed job offer.

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

Less than a year into my role as an analyst in IT audit. Took the role with the hopes of transferring to a finance-focused group and after passing CFA L1 I mentioned this to my coach last week (also hold an MS in Finance, FWIW).

He said we should move on this quickly and to send him over a few projects / teams I’d want to work with.

If I would eventually like to find myself in IB, is my best bet to try transferring into the valuations group and also, how should I frame my outreach?!

Anybody out here know of any “development programs” for mid career professionals looking to transition to sales? Have a data/analytics b/g., but I’m much more social than a “typical” data/analytics person. We have a program at my company that I’m networking to get into, but believe it’s prudent to diversify options, as there is obviously no guarantee that they select me for the program.

Transition to Consulting? Going to have 2-3 competing jobs offers that I need to make a decision by the end of the week on.

I am 3 years out of school with a Bch of ChemEng. I have found myself in the Clinical Trial Supply space as a Systems Analyst.

I can either stay in Big Pharma (probably for most $, suburbs) and expand past just Systems expertise or go into Life Science Consulting (get to work in NYC) and broaden my LS base.

Curious to what an average salary for a IT Account Manager is? I feel I am underpaid (50K base). My yearly quota is $700,000 and I have hit that in the first 7 months. I do make 10% of what I sell. I also think that my colleagues who have not performed to the level I have make much more on base than I do. Any thoughts/advice?

Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?
