News flash: everyone thinks you’re pompous. They nod their head and agree to get you to stop talking.
That’s a polite way of saying it. Where I come from they’d call that having your head up your ass.
Ask and listen rather than assert.
Are you a woman? Might be good old fashioned sexism
People react differently based on gender. I have to soften how I talk depending on the audience. I ask a lot more questions that gets the group to the same answer. Think about it.
You worry needlessly.
What level are you OP? Assuming you’re referencing conversations with clients...if your clients are running with your perspective as the holy grail, then they obviously look to you as a trusted advisor. What’s the problem here? Don’t speak to something if you’re truly not 100% sure on the answer. And even if you’re not, the good ole “let me get back to you on that” always works.
Nailed it on the head. I'm an SA on a multi team project. Due to Covid, we've been working with the client to try to readjust plans without much data. There are older SAs, Ms, and other senior members of the client firm. I'm offering ideas like everyone else and to be fair, they're not bad its just I feel nervous that if it goes south that it'll fall on me. I've talked to my manager and partner and they're saying to embrace it but i think thats because they're loving the praise they're getting because of it.
