Any take on whether working in a capability center at a MBB firm is better than consulting at others lower tiers? Talking terms of quality of work, reputation, pay, career growth, etc.

Is there any downside to leaving a T2 (OW, S&, LEK, EYP) 6 months in at the post-MBA level for a MBB? Thinking a step back might be a very short term hit to TC with opportunity to make it up in the long run. Don’t know my career objectives re staying in consulting or exiting.

I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

Does MBB recruiting happen throughout the year for experienced hires or is there a more defined time period you should be targeting?
