What really irritates me is when lower and middle class peeps say that's it, he's really looking out for us, everyone's gotta pay the same rate on earned income. Umm no. Since most of these rich guys don't earn wages, you're still paying more you dumbass
I am also annoyed with Trump's childcare plan - not that I am against it -but he is passing it as his own idea. Deduction for child care? We pretty much already have what he is planning, but he is pretending it is some amazing idea.
True, but you still need to define "all income" even if you're disallowing all deductions. Is child support income? Fringe benefits from your job? Gifts? Etc.
Oh, that drives me up a wall. Like, "great, you want a simple flat tax rate. Cool, now define income." People need to realize that you can't just consider the tax rate, you also need to look at the base.
Almost any time a politician talks about taxes I get irritated because they usually don't know anything about taxes. It's their aides who research it all and actually write tax laws.
@Pwc 2 does the flat tax rate plan allow taking.. Business deductions?
^ya but that's true under any tax code. You obviously have to define what is subject to taxation.
^ Plenty more than 1% of the population receives income (or something that could be considered income) from someplace other than a W-2.
It pisses me off hearing people say let's use a postcard as return and call it a day ...
^i think the point of argument surrounding a flat tax rate is to eliminate all the deductions that the rich get and the poor never take. It's absurd that the rich have lower effective rates in their earned income (not talking about cap gains here) than your average middle class person due to financial engineering and deductions. Flat rates help to smooth this out, as you can lower the rate (let's say 20% top bracket for arguments sake), and not allow any deductions. That makes it quite easy. The rich pay 20% on all income over $1M (just for example purposes), with no deductions from the base. This allows simplicity (don't need a genius to figure out what 20% of a number is) and doesn't allow the rich to use these crazy deductions that only they have access to.
^im not sure what trumps plan entails. In general, when people talk about flat taxes the theory is no deductions.
I really miss Cain talking about his "9-9-9 Plan" ..it was crap, but it was to listen to him explain it
^Just saying it isn't as simple as "flat tax rate=completely easy for every single person in every situation to calc their own tax."
^its easy enough for the 99% of the population that has income from normal sources (I.e. Jobs)
^Yes! Why is everyone so obsessed with postcards?
