I've made visual check list for bathroom processes, bought timers, tried different bars and body washeds with net sponges, towels and even invested in a pricey showerhead with multiple settings. His set of needs are out of my wheel house. I need suggestions before I just pack up and move out *sarcasm but at the end of my rope*.

Granddaughter just accepted her first position in education as a para II. She supports one student but when that student is absent, she asked to help others. She asked me for advice about supporting a kindergarten autistic student that has just arrived from India and does not speak English and neither do parents. He is not aggressive but will refuse to move from task to task. What would be your advice?

Does anyone here let their kids just read? I have let my kids read in Epic and a lot of them will pick the read to me books. I also have a large set of leveled graphic novels. My principal made a snarky comment today about some interventions not getting done. My thought are If I can get kids interested in reading that is half of the battle and letting them chose a book they want to read is sometimes better than doing an intervention they don’t want to do? I need your help, please. I have a student who simply does not stay on track unless an adult is monitoring him. His quizzes go unfinished and writing assignments are put aside to browse online.
I also would like to ask if there is a way to prevent him from browsing other websites online during instructional time?

I am open to suggestions on how to keep him on track during Math and Writing assignments. Any assistance with this would be helpful.

Does anyone use the Unique Learning Systems curriculum for elementary? I’ve had a hard time understanding the pacing. I teach K-2 together with it and don’t know how to differentiate it for all my kid

I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.

New to sped. Normal for a parent to want a copy of everything you do in class to also do at home? Then say some of the things don’t challenge their nonverbal and aggressive ( hitting every day) kid? this one is defiant and aggressive, not bored
