If you can be customer facing as an individual contributor, you can make good money as a solution architect
Basically any IC role at Facebook. Friend there knows sql pretty well and her job is to run bespoke analytics for Facebook clients. Clearing well over $250K. No data science or hardcore coding required.
Where are the positions usually? (geographically)
Go all in on Azure and AWS
You can easily make 250k as a functional tech person outside of a firm in a software company within their services org or in a customer success role. No management skills required. No coding required.
Expect all of this to drop soon. With change in government, we will be back to oversupply from abroad again.
Bowl Leader
Yeah, the tough part about making more money when you’re in a straight technology implementation role (no management or sales responsibilities) is many times they don’t understand the difference between a (for example) 15 yr. cloud architect and a 5 yr. cloud architect. Tend to hit a pay wall unless working in a specialized area to give you a competitive advantage (which may also be risky personally).
Dynamics, not SAP
Oracle EPM, you can hit that pay in 5-6 years if you are good, if you suck 130k, if you are a start 350-400k(as an independent)
Salesforce Certified Technical Architect. There's like 500 people worldwide who hold that certification. You'll be set.

You can make that salary as a Senior Manager/Director at any major firm. Historically, ERP has been a proven path, but there are other good suggestions in this thread.
Eventually you’ll need SCALE—- whether that’s sales or IP/product. You can definitely attain this income as an SMR, even up to $500k for specialized roles with an industry expertise and good/lasting client relationships.
Good luck!
Yeah. Like reptiles
If you’re married and your spouse gets decent healthcare/insurance for the whole family, going independent is not a bad option if you have connections and a good relationship in the industry. In a government consulting world, you can get anywhere from $100-200 hourly rate based on your skill set and experience. Mid range of that could get you the 250k net income after taxes and fees.
AI is in demand
Client facing Solution architecture
Or you can make it without client relationships, but you’ll need calculus.
Easily gross way more than that in cloud. Go all in on Azure/AWS +/- DevOps, you’d be all set.
