You might get more visibility on this in the Big Law bowl. I applied to the fellowship but wasn’t selected for an interview last year. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the privacy team but the fellowship seems like a great learning experience. This is only the second year of their fellowship program though.

Unfortunately, I don’t have too many specifics. It was from a former associate on their privacy team who used to work out of the Chicago office. The gist was that the environment was toxic, horrible hours, etc. Nothing too outside of the norm. However, I know of another associate who lateraled to their Chicago privacy team and has had an overall decent experience. I would imagine the fellowship provides a lot of opportunity for training, likely greater than an average associate position. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Shepard in general though. If you look at the Big law bowl, two associates have posted this week that two associates at the firm have unfortunately passed away by suicide this year. However, the comments have a mix of folks who have also had great experiences so I think it likely depends on practice area/location.

Have you ever heard about “Green Line Offer” process which is supposed to be a quicker version of the standard Hiring Committee to reach the offer stage? My recruiter told me about this yesterday and said it will take 2-3 days as the review is done “offline” so no need to wait HC to meet. This was completely new to me. No background info asked so far so I’m wondering how they will do the background check.

Having a tough time getting a Product Manager interview. I have 3.5 YOE in technology implementations for a startup (my client). First 2.5 years were spent building my clients software, most recent year has been as a project manager for them. A lot of what I’ve done in last year overlaps ProdM responsibilities but I recognize it is a change. Am I reaching too much for a PM role? What are other roles I should consider to try to position myself to break into PM? Thank you for your help 🙏🏼

Taking a new role in industry after 2 years in public. It’s about a 70% increase from current salary and between 25-30% increase from expected salary after promotion to Senior (find out later today what my new figure would have been). It’s a remote position making solid money and interesting work/field. Just worried I’m leaving public too soon. Raises will be 2-4% in new role until promotion so I will catch up in public about 3-4 years from now. Thoughts?

Hi all - we have an opening for our in-house data privacy group (big company with global presence). Looking for someone junior with 2-3 years of legal experience (big law is a plus) ideally working with tech contracts and knowledge of major data privacy laws (any experience demonstrating already starting to work in this space is a plus).
