Hi Folks, We are in the process of getting the Canada PR and hopefully we would be getting the PR in the end of October. My wife is the primary applicant and she is already in discussion for an offer with a semiconductor company in Ottawa.
I am planning to start my job search in canada and preferably get an offer even before moving to Canada . I am from a Data science / Machine Learning background and previously worked in Software engineering role as well with 9 YOE.
How to start my job search ?

You might get more visibility on this in the Big Law bowl. I applied to the fellowship but wasn’t selected for an interview last year. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the privacy team but the fellowship seems like a great learning experience. This is only the second year of their fellowship program though.
Unfortunately, I don’t have too many specifics. It was from a former associate on their privacy team who used to work out of the Chicago office. The gist was that the environment was toxic, horrible hours, etc. Nothing too outside of the norm. However, I know of another associate who lateraled to their Chicago privacy team and has had an overall decent experience. I would imagine the fellowship provides a lot of opportunity for training, likely greater than an average associate position. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Shepard in general though. If you look at the Big law bowl, two associates have posted this week that two associates at the firm have unfortunately passed away by suicide this year. However, the comments have a mix of folks who have also had great experiences so I think it likely depends on practice area/location.
