I think that Russian politics can be life or death and probably good advice
I get what you’re saying and where you’re coming from, but if people believe in a cause (like democracy or self governance) and understand the risks of facing an authoritarian government, then protests become necessary. You’re trying to create a better world for your family and kids.
Each time you don’t stand up to authoritarianism you lose more and more.
We can’t trade peace for justice.
Best of luck to all those who are fighting for a better life and do let us know what we as foreigners can do to help.

Russian here who is an American citizen now. You cannot apply American democracy criteria here. You will simply get arrested in Russia. So where as yes, they’re asking you not to exercise you right to free speech, the reality is there is no such right right in Russia and you may end up in jail. A family member got arrested in a simple peaceful rally simply for marching a month ago.
Moved here for that reason. So OP, you do you. Sometimes things are more important than staying silent but know the possible consequences, no matter how unfair they are.
P1 this is utter bs. Let’s rationalize that killing people is also the norm, since it’s happening in some of the geos?
McK mos has multiple contracts with govt and more importantly govt-owned/affiliated banks. They’re exclusively worried about business.
Conversely- why does McK do business in a country where their core value set is impossible to exercise without violating the law?

My thought is I'm grateful to live in a country where my employer cannot restrict the display of my personal beliefs during non-working hours.

The Senior Partner needs the be terminated. Immediately.
When you’re in Rome do as the Romans do. Doesn’t mean it’s right, but that’s probably aside the point in Russia when it comes to political speech.

Wowzers
Simply stated, if McKinsey wants to continue to operate in Russia, they must continue to have such restrictive policies supportive of the Putin regime.
Agreed C5. Calling it like I see it.

McKinsey operates in Russia 😳
Guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Guys, OW/Kearney/Big4/BCG and a bunch of BB IBs operate there.. l know McKinsey and Big 4 have offices in Kazakhstan, and you are surprised about Russia lol
Most of McK’s clients in Russia must be owned/controled by Putin’s gang..
I’d like to take advantage of the ‘Russian’ thread and ask for advice for a friend. He is graduating from a civil aviation university trained as a pilot, but he is also considering consulting as a second career choice. How does entry-level consulting recruitment work in Russia? Is it mostly about nepotism? Does a smart person with an unrelated major stand a chance (like in the US)?
Thank you! That’s very helpful!
why bring personal opinions to work. work is work. u don’t like how the world is? go run for president and change something. as far as i know this country is so divided it’s sad. it’s like a never ending drama series
I mean sure, but it’s not like Russia has real elections
I thought this was for America before I read the last line. The state of American affairs 😕
