Signed my offer with EYP about 10 days ago (9/29) and my background check hasn’t been completed yet. My start date is 11/07, when should I put in my two weeks? I heard EY/EYP vendor RAI is notorious for taking their time with these checks but didn’t want to prematurely pull the trigger.. EY EY-Parthenon

Is there anyone in Marietta that could help pick up and drop off a stove tmrw evening (I’ll pay) 😔 moving companies are charging way too much just to pick up a single item and no one on thumbtack or the other apps is available. I’d honestly do it myself if I was in town.
I want to go around in my city (NYC) and take photographs and record videos of people - portraits and edited videos.
Is there any possible way I can do this without being a total creep?

I received an offer from a 40+ attorney firm on Friday. Mostly partners, only 4 assocs. It came directly from the mp on video call. There appear to be no HR Person. MP seems like a cool guy. Really liked the 5-6 partners I met. Seem really nicer but most were newer only like 1-2 years at the time and lower level who mostly help out on other partners’ matters. I was visibly excited about offer. Just learned that it’s actually quite a toxic workplace. How/What do I now say when I reject offer?
Quandary! Accepted a recruiters offer to submit me out of a moment of anger/disappointment. Did some interviews to follow thru. Now they want to offer me. Offer should be stellar and above market and a healthy amount more than I’m currently comp’d. BUT, the issues at current firm have been remedied, I’m happy, love my coworkers, and am up for partnership this yr. Haven’t been here long and moving now will be 6th firm in 7 yrs. How do I reject (if I should??) an offer without…

A managing partner at my firm told one of the senior associates that she expects attorneys to provide six months' notice for leaving a firm. This seems extreme and basically impossible. Has anyone encountered this type of timeline?
Has anyone ever been put in a position to decide whether to choose a job where you can make a difference (ie prosecutor, public defender) vs a job that offers you a lot of money (ie enough to take care of your family, parents, etc.)? If so, how did you choose? Any guidance or thoughts from anyone would be helpful😣
Is there typically a grace period to get billable requirements met when starting at a new firm? I started the first week of May. I'm about 90 hours short of a 170 requirement for the month. I have work, but it's big file review type stuff that takes a lot of actual time. Should I be sending out resumes, or killing myself to get these hours in by the 31st? I'm not a new lawyer, but am new to this practice area. They poached me from my last firm.

So the partner threatened to fire me because I don’t usually submit my timesheet daily (and I mean DAILY, he checks everyone’s timesheet at 9AM). I’m thinking about quitting because I think threatening termination for this type of pettiness is BS, and even the strictest firms I’ve worked at had a 72-hour policy. Is this common?
Junior associate at a mid-sized reputable law firm that is not strict about hours. I am consistently under hours due to lack of work (goal is 1800, I bill 1200 on average). Love the partner I work for and learn a lot from them but they don’t push enough work down, despite me asking for it. Any advice?
