Welp

Develop a close relationship with the experience staff to learn the process and technologies. Be confident in yourself and know that you will have a transition period and learning curve. Bring the right attitude and spend time to learn your clients, teams and do the things that you were doing to get promoted.

like

Totally agree... we’ve had a few start, but you have to be willing to learn. Just because you are a senior doesn’t mean you can’t learn something new.

like

Utilize your staff as much as it makes sense to. Your staff might know your systems better than you do.. also don’t be afraid to ask other seniors on your team questions or even your managers. It’s all a team so don’t put everything on you.

In the virtual environment, I would think this is going to be tough. I left a firm to work at PwC as a senior and my pathway to eventually to tier 1 status was because of my team being so welcoming and helping me understand a lot of the nuances. If you can develop positive relationships with all levels on the team, from the associates to your senior manager they will be more forgiving and my associates in particular was super helpful in answering very basic questions about the system generic EGA questions. There are a lot of Acronyms at PwC so write these down. Also, try to limit the amount of work discussions you get involved in until you are comfortable enough to pull your weight. I was lucky I was on a team who brought me up to speed slowly but I understand not everyone will have this luxury especially when you join at busy season.

Don’t be afraid to put your personal well-being ahead of your desire to “look good” by saying yes and taking on too much.

You are your biggest advocate.

SALY

These “I passed the bar” posts on LinkedIn are getting a little ridiculous. Just saw a someone’s post about how they can now practice in any UBE jurisdiction. This person went to a top undergrad, HYS for law school, and works at a V5. It’s not that impressive to pass the bar, especially from those law schools which probably have a 99% pass rate. Bragging for bragging’s sake is tacky.

Starting accutane and petrified of having nose bleeds in any work or interview situations. Any tips on preventing these?

Hey all. I was a career pivot. It’s hard, one o free hardest things you’ll ever do. But you can do it.
It’s ok to get discouraged, and even give up for a bit; but just remember to pick yourself back up at some point.

For point of reference: I was a police officer for 11 years. Now I’m a mobile app developer. (Was a web dev for a bit too)
