It's not that complicated. Thank them for the support over the past x months / years, let them know you are pursuing a new opportunity that will enable you to achieve xyz goal faster, and close with something about maintaining a relationship after you leave (assuming that's what you want).
Also be prepared - some people are petty and won't care how thoughtfully you resign. They'll be mad no matter what and that's on them, not you
You set up a call and thank them for their guidance to date. You have an offer you can’t refuse,
What if EY matched offer? Be prepared just in case. When I left KPMG they asked me what it would take to keep me. In my case I said nothing could lol.
Same here. Couldn’t pay me enough to stay haha
Agree w/S1 & EY1. You can do a call, then follow up with an email BCC: your personal email.
Give 2 wks notice, maybe a little more if you're in a leadership position with direct reports. And that's that. But you don't owe them anything. Work is a labor exchange for money & experience. Everybody held up their ends of the deal and that's the way it should be.
Congrats on your great offer, wish you much success!
