The stock market always goes up, they say. It’s been white hot since 2009. Is 2022 the year the naysayers were talking about? Do we see a significant dip in the market for the year?

I am down 17% on FBGRX. And, I don’t even buy individual stocks anymore!

Have been discussing Neitzsche's Parable of a Madman in my English 10 class. It's super cool how a prominant atheist's message about what you should place your hope/trust in has actually opened the door for tons of discussion about how everyone (atheists and theists) at some point need to grapple with the question: What is the source of your truth and morals? And in this parable, Nietzsche kindof admits/laments that this is a tough question for atheists to answer.

How long would you stay bored in-house before making a move? I’m 10 months in and for a few months now have been extremely bored. Don’t see things changing. I’m a 5th year and considering going back to a firm and maybe trying in-house again down the line. The boredom really gets to you!

Theres not much going on for me to do while away just some minor follow ups, but has anyone ever experienced this before? Howd you handle? I think hes just being ridiculous but was it wrong of me to go away? This trip had been planned for a while. Just have anxiety now.

I’m currently a 4th year Private Equity/M&A lawyer applying for jobs in-house. I’ve been asked by a potential employer to provide a “contract I’ve drafted” with confidential information redacted but it seems wrong to pull a contract from my firm and the client to send to another organization for personal use (as purchase agreements are a labor of love from multiple parties). Has anyone else been asked to provide contracts to potential employers? Are there alternatives?

Has anyone gone from small real estate development company to big REIT? I’m being told that hours are the same (if not less) at the REIT, but I find it hard to believe. In my small company now, I frequently work after hours and take calls from the owner outside of normal business hours. The base salary is over $100k more than I currently make so I’m just wondering if it’s too good to be true.

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?

Recruiter Outed Me to My Employer: I briefly chatted with recruiter about a position posted by the recruiting firm. Have had a lack of interest now for a couple months. Just generally not interested in anything going on at work. Part of it is some new initiatives and new leadership - and I am just not drinking the kool aid. It is hard only having one client sometimes. There’s no escape. Does anyone else who came from a busy private practice with dozens of clients ever feel burnt out from dealing with the same people day in and day out? The same people are always making trouble. It’s just getting old.
