Worked as a paralegal during law school. Passed bar. Current job is offering a 92k salary in an area of law I do not like, like AT ALL.
Applied to a small firm on a whim. Interviewed, LOVED the vibe, the managing partner & associate BUT its quite low 65k..I really could see myself in a place like that but sadly I have kids to support and with the current economy, cannot take a paycut. Feeling like the jobs I like are lower paying while the higher paying jobs are in areas I could care less for.
I’d focus on all the positives of the company you’re interviewing for and how your current one can’t offer those things: growth opportunities; opportunity to work with specific teams/individuals/departments/in an industry or specification that interests you; interviewing company’s culture and mission really resonates with you; etc.
best of luck!
I’m currently interviewing and have been at my job for 1.5 years - my answer is very slow opportunity for growth that is strictly dependent on success of the company overall and not individual achievements which stunts my growth.
Because of X decision, my career goals are no longer aligned with the company's.
