"How might we" is a good start to most discussions
I have a major problem with the premise of this thread. I think the question you have to ask yourself is, "would the way I'm speaking come off negatively if I were a man?" Trying to cater to internalized notions of how women are "supposed" to be perpetuates the problem. I personally believe in cultivating a communication style and persona that helps you to be effective and meet your goals, and to not let the fear of being bitchy or aggressive be a driving factor in how you communicate. I, personally, try to be direct, empathetic, efficient, and candid. I try to communicate in service of that. With that in mind, of course there are areas for improvement in how we all communicate - for me, personally, it's being impatient and interrupting. However, I try to stop that because I think it makes for ineffective communication - NOT because it may cause people to think of me as "bitchy" or "aggressive."
Are you a brown or black female? I think this is a luxury some women do not have.
