Yea. Stop focusing on figuring it out through work. People spend a lot of time trying to figure out what they want to do and they put a lot of pressure on themselves because this job determines their livelihoods. There’s too many stakes involved in making career changes and that added stress creates poor decisions. Relax and start doing things outside of work. Sit down and work through your emotions on how you feel about your hobbies, past times, relationships. Then after you gain an understanding of what kinds of things you gravitate towards, what kind of people you enjoy having in your life, what kind of things you enjoy doing, then it’s time to inspect your work life and take a step towards what feels right in your heart.

Do you mean "what you really want to do to minimize effort spent while maximizing money earned?"

like

No no — I don’t mind working hard and effort isn’t the issue. I do mind working as hard as I do on something I get so little out of (and subsequently that “something” comprises so much of my life and emotional energy). Consulting money is great, but it’s taught me a lot about what I (personally) do and don’t need from a salary standpoint

Posted in Big 4 bowl but reposting here: Looking to move into a general Consulting Staff/Business Transformation/Strategy position mid-late 2022. Was eyeing a Summer/Fall 2022 Business Transformation Staff position at EY in particular, but it has dropped off. Any idea of when positions like that will typically open up across most firms? Want to get in early, open to any firm. I do not have an MBA, but I am client facing and work in commercial markets currently. TYIA!

Can anyone help me evaluate whether I should take an exit opportunity. Currently in big 4 (fsrm) and have the opportunity to join a f250 payments firms internal strategy division. They report directly to the c-suite and said they mainly focus on strategy or M&A and don’t do implementation. The team seems really nice but I’m just worried about leaving consulting and leaving the accelerated progression. Would love some insights as I’m fairly lost on what to decide. Thanks!
