Any tips on lateraling from Big 4 Tax M&A to Corporate/M&A or Tax Group at an AmLaw 200 firm?

Are there any large differences between a Strategy lead and Program manager positions? Looking to transition and in the process for a couple of roles. Mainly concerned about job role, longer term progression and internal mobility (will be moving countries in a few years). Speaking to the HMs and reading the job descriptions show very similar job responsibilities for the two roles. Coming in most likely as an L5 in the US

I’m an insurance analyst 2 (servicing) for nationwide. I have a P&C insurance license, just slightly over two years experience, a 1.5 year 100% quality evaluation record. I have gotten to the current position I am in very quickly, comparatively to other folks b/c of my performance. I work odd hours to receive additional pay, which is good. I believe I make about $57k. Given that I don’t have much experience in the industry, I don’t know if this is good pay. Looking for advice advice to advance.

My friend said he wished he would’ve pursued SWE. He’s a consultant at Big 4, 3YOE, and has a MPH in Healthcare Mgmt.. What kind of roles/work can he get if he decides to do a swe bootcamp but stay in healthcare? Would his salary increase significantly if he does that?

Should a DevOps Cloud Engineer with 2 years experience earning around 10 LPA (base salary) in a Fortune 200, switch to a startup paying 20 LPA (base salary)?
The reason to ask this question is, wouldn't it be difficult at the time of second switch, to move to another big organisation after one is already at a startup earning 22-24 LPA at 3-5 years of experience?

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

Looking to change my career a little- I've been in Investment Management Ops for years now but I am craving a change, thinking of staying in finance but wanting a role that is more data analysis oriented where you work on solving issues vs working on daily repetitive tasks. What does the progression track look like for post-mba consultants at MBB? Specifically, are there notable differences in promotion timing amongst the firms? I’ve noticed on LinkedIn that several BCGers have reached principal level in 3.5 years (2 as consultant, 1.5 as PL) whereas it seems to take a minimum of 4 years but sometimes even 5 for McK to reach AP level (which I believe is the equivalent?) Is this an accurate assessment?

Should I just quit the legal field?

I have been a paralegal or legal assistant since 2010. I have worked for small and large firms and a TPA. I've worked in L&E, PI, and ID. Billing hours gave me nightmares. Right now I'm in a hybrid paralegal/LA position where I'm responsible for all of the docketing and supporting the managing partner and 1 associate and their 90+ ID caseload. I make a lot of mistakes everywhere I work. I feel so incompetent. Should I just abandon this career path?

CFA fish, I’m on L1 and have finished the modules. Using Kaplan and currently reviewing the Q bank. I’m scoring mid 70’s, is this a reasonable comparison to the exam? Any advice would be appreciated

Anyone else get frustrated when the partner brags about their billable hour amount for the month? Like congrats, you get to bill .2 for each piece of mail. You also get .2 for every letter your secretary types up as a "form letter" you never even look at. As an Associate, I don't get those easy/automatic hours.

Hello Legal Recruiters! What’s the market compensation for a commercial real estate associate with 1+ YOE at a small firm (20 partners) in a secondary market. I’m 10+ yrs into my career, but I made an odd for me, accidental pivot into local government/real estate about a year and a half ago, and I’m looking around. What’s the typical process for hiring/interviewing for a lateral position at an AmLaw 100 firm? Ie, how many rounds of interviews, timing between each interview, etc. Do firms typically interview X amount of people initially or does it depend on other factors?

I did an initial interview with a firm Thursday morning. They asked for references and I provided them the following day along with my thank you note. In past experiences, I would have heard something by now unless they were not interested at all. Am I wrong to just write this one off?

How bad does it look to future employers for an experienced attorney (15+ years) who is pivoting into a different practice area and looking to lateral after only having been at their current/first job for 4-5 months in the new practice area? She said the company would take this into account and make me whole. She later asked for proof of the equity in the form of my account statement and balance, which I provided. I have not yet received an offer. Is it typical for companies to ask for this documentation if they don't intend to make the candidate an offer?
