Any tips on transitioning a networking call into a referral? Even if it’s going well, and good questions are asked, it’s tricky to turn a call into actually asking for referral. Any good approaches?

My rule of thumb is to never ask for a referral and just have the conversation to learn. If they like you, they’ll offer to refer you.

I’m with A1; I generally want to help when I do have the time so will proactively offer to review resumes/give mock interviews to folks who are professional and pleasant, but am less inclined to do so if the other person is pushy or demands a referral, which has happened before.

Referrals mean a lot in that your contact is putting their name on the line to vouch for you, so I won’t do that unless I’ve gotten to know someone well enough.

Considering the fact that most have stopped hiring, I would just say go about it as a networking call and keep up and show interest - so when they start hiring again like normal then all the showed interest will be a lot easier to ask for one

@Lululemon

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

Anyone have ideas for jobs that are a mix between administration and clinical work? I went to school for community health and have a lot of manager/patient coordinator experience under my belt, but I'm also a volunteer EMT and would like to start using those skills in my next job that I'm searching for.

Most titles I've found interesting are along the "medical assistants" role, but don't fit the bill cause I don't have an MA license

First 8 weeks as an Associate after jumping from Big4:

Pros - super smart/driven colleagues, more unique/interesting work, more ownership, benefits are awesome, traveling frequently, more technical work, more frequent feedback

Cons - hours are worse, much faster timelines, having to learn the BCG way quickly, much higher expectations, less ability to choose cases

Overall very happy with the switch so far - happy to answer any questions!

As an experienced hire interviewing, what should you not share about your current experience? I think I have a pretty good common sense understanding of this (obviously don’t share clients and identifying client info, for example), but would interested to hear what others think as I don’t want to come across as unprofessional, but also need to give detailed answers to the PEI portion. I assume centering on personal impact on casework is fine, but want to make sure I’m not completely off. Thanks!
