Any tips on transitioning from large non-profit law firm to mid-large private practice? I currently practice primarily consumer law and bankruptcy. I previously practiced housing law. I've only been practicing for 2 years. However, prior to law school I was in corporate banking and finance doing financial analysis and M&A due diligence work for about 10 years. I would ideally like to work in corporate/finance/business transactional law.

What is a large non-profit law firm?

If you know consumer and credit regulations you could get a job in a financial regulatory group. With your prior history you can tell the truth - you wanted to get a different perspective but prefer your old career track

Tata Consultancy Hi fishies, I recently interviewed for a Big data dev role for Autodesk but it's via a third party called Applicantz. Initially the contract is for 1 year, which can be extended. There is also scope of Autodesk hiring permanently after 6 months or 1 year. Can anyone provide some reviews about Autodesk and third party Applicantz. Usually I would not have considered anything via a third party, but the company(Autodesk) seems great and work discussed seems good as well.

Crowdsourcing reccomendations for resources for in-house lawyers at a tech company. Books, blogs, other paid resources - all suggestions welcome.

Looking for structured and detailed resources particularly on things like contracting and general introductions to various aspects like employment law, data protection laws, etc. You get the idea.

Non indian law sources which explain concepts very well are also welcome. Thanks in advance!

I just went to each of the 'careers' pages.. Updated resume to match the requirements on each posting. Called out on resume that I need immigration sponsorship. Had a cover letter for each posting.
Before that I spent money on getting a professional resume from Monster. Highly recommended. Good luck all.

How often are any of you asked to write demand letters? I'd like to start a demand letter writing side gig, but I'm wondering if most people resort to just writing them themselves instead of hiring an attorney. Also, are there any ethical concerns with writing a demand letter with no intent of representing the client in a lawsuit? I really just want to provide clients with a low-cost means of settling relatively minor disputes.
