You mean in finance or account? What is the push back? Can the account not currently support you at a higher level based on negotiated retainer or scope? When is that renegotiated? Depending on who your boss needs to convince it doesn’t sound like an issue of proving you deserve the next role it’s proving they can pay you at the next role? And if you deserve promo, why does your boss need your help selling it? What is he/she looking for?
Sit with your account lead. Understand your billable rate as it relates to your salary. Understand the health of the business and your impact there. And understand the growth trajectory of the business
You don’t have to help your boss craft an argument to convince suits. His job is to look out for your career. If it’s time for a raise that’s his responsibility. Stay or quit based on the results
