Any tools or resources out there to help understand cost of living adjustments. Potentially moving to Bay Area and would like to see what new comp will get me compared to current city and salary.

This is for a new job, with 80%+ increase in comp (salary + bonus). Trying to get a feel of what the net gain is factoring COL, taxes, etc. Currently based in DC.

Are thinking comp adjustment based on switching home offices? Is that a thing? I don't suppose they lower your salary if you switch to another office with a lower cost of living?

Oh I'm going to take it without a doubt, but just scheduled final interview, and nothing is final yet. But it's looking good. I'm just trying to be prepared for the move and have the right expectations for what life will be like in out there.

If you want to live alone in dt SF in a decent place you're going to pay 3K plus and pay significantly more in income taxes. You're dispensable income will increase significantly regardless.

Yeah I've realized living alone may not be an option.. at least in SF. I currently pay $1700 for 600sq ft 1br. Wouldn't mind living in Oakland, if I can find a 1br at a reasonable price in a cool area - Is $2k reasonable to expect for that?

Why wouldn't it be an option? You're making 180k act like it!

Looking for help negotiating carry at a small $25M VC fund in NYC. Fund is just now being raised so salary is only $90k. My job will be to source and diligence investments similar to a Fund Manager role but also help out with syndicates, ops, fundraising, brand building until we get to first close. There is a GP full time fundraising + a COO + me. I have 8+ years of IB / VC experience and a top MBA. They anchored at 1% which feels too low to me.

According to Management Consulted Deloitte’s entry level salary is around 82K-85K. Is this true for all their commercial (non GPS) groups? E.g., Enterprise Performance, S&A, HC, C&M, etc.

Counter Offer in Salary Negotiations: So I was initially offered $115k and asked for $135k-140k. They came back to me with $125k. I would like to counter with $130k and add that I will accept this number. Thoughts? I could most definitely desperately use the extra $5k but I don’t want to shoot my self in the foot! What are your thoughts? Am a third year btw!

Should I follow up with recruiter? I have been interviewing with a Tech company, had an interview with recruiter, then hiring manager (2weeks ago) , the direct supervisor (1 week ago), and submitted two assignments. I haven’t heard back from the recruiter in over a week, since she set up the time for me to talk to the supervisor. Should I follow up with her, or keep waiting?

No Integrity! Why do Partners staff individuals and entire teams on projects they are not qualified to do, are clueless, but are pitched to the client as if they are the perfect fit. This sets people up for failure, reflects poorly on PwC, and drives quality people to leave the firm. I believe this will ultimately be the downfall of PwC Advisory, and its simply dishonest.

A follow-up to a post I made yesterday: it's looking more and more like I'll be up for a promotion (From a TA) to either a Delivery style PM or a "Junior/Associate" PM. A little background. I have an MS, however, it is in neither business nor tech. So my only tech experience is the 2.5 yes I have in my current position. However, I feel because it will be an internal promotion, my knowledge of our current system is something an outside hire could not bring. What sort of pay should I push for?

I am a second year manager on a possible promotion path to SM in 2021. Just got an acceptance email from an executive MBA program (in the top 10 list in the US) that I had applied for on a complete whim and got through. Do you think it’s a good proposition, considering my career trajectory within the company? Looking for some perspective.
