Yup. Corporate to startup. There isn’t a simple answer to this unfortunately, as is the nature of building a business. It’s been a brutal year given Covid for small business, but I’ve never regret the decision. I’ve learnt so much about myself personally and professionally and the exposure to different industries and clients has fed my desire for change and helped me learn things I never would have in a consistent role/portfolio.

Can somebody provide examples of strong ECs? Is involvement in a local small business accelerator a good example? How to find time to participate if I work 60 hours/week on average? Or does a hobby like a youtube channel count as well? I need a top tier MBA degree for better job opportunities, and I don’t care about community impact. Gonna fake it if I have to. Help.

Any ideas for individual counseling zoom activities?

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

Would you say H/S grad are held to higher expectations than anyone else given the same role? For example, if someone from H/S landed MBB/T2 and then someone from a T15 landed the same role. Would the H/S person be held to higher standards and be expected to perform more?

Working remotely from Canada on tourist visa? I am planning to take a 15 day trip to Canada from US but most of that time I will be at my relatives place and not going out much. I was thinking I'll work from there for a week and take rest off? Tourists are generally not authorized to work but this is remote work and my employer has no offices in Canada.
