Do any of you have the title “paralegal” but no paralegal certification? I do a lot of actual paralegal work but not sure if it would be looked down upon to use that as my title on LinkedIn/email signature.

(My company doesn’t really assign titles btw - my boss calls me his paralegal)

For those of you who have been formally given the title of “senior paralegal” what are the qualifications for that title at your firm? Does your firm do promotions from paralegal to senior paralegal? At my firm we are all simply just “paralegal” (we all fully handle our own dockets, no assistants) and I would like to help develop a concrete career track for paralegal to senior paralegal.

If you are not going to law school or thinking about it. Is it a purpose of staying as a paralegal throughout your career? I mean there is no any other higher up movement other than a senior or managing paralegal.

I’ve been working as a paralegal for a month and I’m still trying to figure things out. Everything from learning protocols to understanding how each attorney works. I try not to be so hard on myself and take this time to learn what I can.

ISO a commercial real estate paralegal for a PHX-based law firm. 95K and 1400 billables. 3plus years of experience.

I’m sure this topic has been done to death, but I’m curious to know what billable hour requirements other paralegals have and if you met them for the year. At my firm our requirements are 1100-1300 hours a year, but as of 12/1, I was at 1750.

Met with partner and law clerk "associate-to-be" to discuss work to be done on a specific matter. Partner issued each of us specific tasks. One week later, the law clerk wants to discuss tasks and what needs to be done. Appears to me the clerk is going to shift his tasks onto me. Advice appreciated.
