Not in GPS, but I do get the emails from Dan Helfich and I just want to say he seems like a helluva leader. He comes across as authentic and genuinely invested in diversity and well being of his ppl.
Another win for diversity!
Career question. Currently a big4 financial tax manager doing mostly fed compliance. I do not wish to become a partner as selling business is not my thing. I've been entertaining two exit options. Exit now as more of a general accounting role hoping to be a controller one day vs wait couple more years and exit at SM/director level hoping to be a head of tax or tax director somewhere. The end goal for me is to make as much as possible and be able to retire from corporate grinds.
My fiancé is on H1-b and his parents’ US tourist visa expired. Is there any way to expedite the visa process so that they can come to US for marriage functions? I am a US citizen if that helps at all.
NYC to SFO Delta flight was delayed for 4 hours because they lost bags, which resulted in needing a new captain whom they had to wake up and ask to come in...love airlines.
San Jose, Costa Rica vs Bogota, Columbia for a long weekend solo trip? Which one is better?
Had a lateral interview that seemed to go well, with an invite for a second interview just 4 days later. Said they'd be in touch. After one week I followed up writing sample. They thanked me and said they'd be in touch "next week" (which was this last week). Never heard back. Any advice on what to do next? Don't want to be annoying, and don't know what a typical time-frame is.
Hi all- I am moving from a big4 into a PL role at BCG. Any advice on the transition? Boston Consulting Group
Been on FMLA / short term disability for 3 months and doctor recommended 1.5 months extension. My firm refused the extended leave but we’re unable to provide reasons what the under hardship for the firm is. They are pressing me hard for alternative ada accommodation (anything but continuous leave) so I can get back to work. If not they will terminate me next day. Is it legal?
What technical questions have you been asked on interviews at the senior accountant level?
Do you usually lie about your current salary when negotiating with a new employer? And by how much, 10% 20%? I resent the fact that I am even being asked. What I currently make is irrelevant.
How are people "networking" now that we are wfh? I mean, you are barely even aware if people still work in the same company. Previously, you at least saw them every now and then at the office but now... They could have fired half the company and I wouldn't know
Gonna start new project after 5 months on the bench. It's a miracle they haven't fired me 🙌
Hi all, I have been using Goldman Sachs’ Marcus Savings Account for a while as a place to hold emergency savings. The platform is pretty good and I have 4 more referrals this year. If you are interested, Marcus is having a promotion for an extra .50% APY for 3 months after opening an account. Check out my referral link if you are looking for another savings account—https://www.marcus.com/share/ONZ-IJD-IDT2
PSA: PwC has unfrozen comp and will be giving base comp adjustments effective on 01/01/2021. Advisory on cohort system will be trued up to their current cohort based on FY20 salary and all other groups will receive incremental salary adjustments from 1-5%. Now that’s a Christmas gift!
I am interested in discussing joint marketing efforts with other solo practitioners (DC, VA, MD area) where we could have 1-2 lawyers within each legal specialty. I am federal practitioner (bankruptcy, tax, immigration, federal compliance, employment),so I could refer many other types matters to a joint group. We could maintain our solo practices, but have more joint marketing
Anyone got a six figure base as an AE? Hunting around for companies with 6-fig base and similar commission. Seems to be mostly field / enterprise pay.
I have a standing offer with Accenture (AFS). Due to coronavirus, the recruiter told me they are pausing staffing of external people like myself while they take care of internal people on the bench. My recruiter said he would touch base monthly during covid, but usually I’m the one to reach out to him. We haven’t spoken since mid March, so should I reach out? I totally understand if they’re still in the same position as before and nothing changed since mid March in terms of hiring.
Am I making a mistake? Thinking about signing with Strategy& and giving up my 2nd year bschool reimbursement ($80k) from my internship.
