Any way to get jobs at the IRS chief counsel office without a law degree? Can you get in as a CPA? Chief counsel only.

You could probably get in as an administrative assistant without a law degree or another administrative position

If your looking more for attorney-advisor or general attorney roles then in my experience I haven’t seen that done. If your looking at “Technical” positions, typically the basic requirements are to have LLB or JD from an accredited law school with about 1 year of legal/ legal tax experience.

You can see the requirements for these positions on USAJobs

Fed counsel jobs require a JD and barred in at least one jurisdiction in the US. You’d want to checkout the USAjobs site though in case there’s related/back-end support jobs within the office though. I’m sure there are

National Office Chief Counsel used to hire accountants to work on accounting method change applications, but I think they stopped doing that about 20 years ago.

My boyfriend lost his mother few months ago. It was very unexpected. How can I support him going forward ? He talks way less as he’s slowly realizing she’s gone and he’s very sad. I don’t know what to do beside being there for him and giving him space when needed. He said I’m very supportive but I’m a bit scared this will affect our relationship as a couple on the long term. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

I’m currently in PA working in tax compliance (PE/Hedge) and considering my options.
