Curious! I have tried this a few days here and there when my nanny was off, and it was nearly impossible for me!
How old are the kids? I could see maybe doing it when they are like 3 -6 months, but after that...no way! Even if they were older, I would feel like I need to still make sure they are entertained and not watching tv all day. I have had a few instances where the baby was sick or school was closed and we could not get backup care. .. those days were the worst!
Everything D1 said - on snow days when daycare is closed, me and my husband usually take turns watching our 2 year old son as we try and work throughout the day and I usually get 20% done of what I’d get done during a kid free day - I have no idea how ppl do it
Totally agree with all of you. On snow days/ sick days, my husband and I both juggle the kids and our conference calls, and the kids still end up watching more tv than I would like, and I get less work done than I would like..... one of the folks I talked to has an infant (6 months old), and works in an internal role for a Big 4. The other has 2 kids, aged 3 and 1, and he “works from home” every Friday. I asked about how he manages conference calls, and he told me that his work knows that he has kids Fridays, so they don’t schedule many calls.....he works for the government.
It doesn’t work unless the kids are much older maybe school age like 7/8+ so they have homework.
Raising this question, b/c I have run into a couple people recently doing this. WFH myself, I wanted to ask a lot of questions, but realized it would come across as antagonistic, so asking you fine people in FB instead!!
Doesn’t work for me. I tried when my daughter was young even 3 months would work, she was needy. Now there is definite no way it would work. If my nanny needs the day off and my husband can’t help I take the day off
Didnt work out for me. I would put baby in car seat and play YouTube for them so I can attend meetings from another room. Now I have a nanny to take care of baby while I can work peacefully.
