Any word on whether 2021 busy season will be wfh for any of the accounting firms?

EY most likely from what partners have said

Yes

PwC, has a partner say they’re targeting after busy season for any events/full offices and all that. But who knows

I'm expecting EY to be. Latest email basically confirmed east coast metros (DC up to Boston) will be remote until Jan. I don't see the firm moving everyone back in during busy season

like

PwC is preparing/setting expectations for one.

like

I heard PWC is wfh until 6/30. I expect it will be after busy season before KPMG is off wfh as well.

like

Definitely nothing official on that at PwC and some offices are starting to open at 15% capacity but it’s a good guess that most will WFH until then.

In my office, we are now going to client sites once partners ensure safety conditions are met.

BDO is saying highly likely work from home with few exceptions. Likely an office by office decision though.

I haven't heard any official word, but I'm starting to prepare myself for it. BDO Safe Return started exactly three months ago, all our offices are still in phase 0 or 1, and busy season starts in four months.

Deloitte is manditorily at home until mid Jan. Then it's up to each office. My office leadership (and I'd imagine most) expects us to be wfh through busy season.

it feels like every survey about working from home is (poorly) designed to answer the useless question "would you rather work from home or from the office." I submit that the set of people who prefers to have only one of those two options, always and forever, is the null set. which means it DOES NOT MATTER because the correct answer is always going to be "make both possible." you're welcome, HR departments everywhere.

I’m tired. I love wfh. But balancing it with cooking, cleaning, teacher, parent, caretaker - I’m drained. I want to sleep and wake up when it’s all over

Was a bitch? My coworker routinely asks me how I am doing, what I’m working on, if everything is ok, joking that I’m starting my week on Wednesday because I’ve been remote for two days, etc etc. I find it distracting and invasive so today I told them to please stop asking questions that put me on the spot. Was I a bitch?

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!
