And good for you OP for seeking help! 👏🏼
Working in public made me seriously think I have add/adhd. No joke. I'm probably gonna get myself checked too. I can't seem to focus on just 1 task when i have a thousand others
I got by in school without being able to pay attention but it's really effecting my work
Coming to the realization that when it needs help, it seeks a qualified individual to assess and help with treatment options to function normally.
Ive struggled my whole life with it, but I had pretty unsupportive parents that wouldn't listen, even as I was barely passing grade school or getting kicked out of college early on. They made me feel ashamed and doubt myself when I knew something was wrong
Yeah, I always coped and scraped by in school, but its not cutting it with work and life as an adult
I basically ended up here because of a few of my good, clear days.
I feel like I can't function anymore, and my co-workers, friends and family are always frustrated with me
OP!!! Clarify few good clear days! Wanted to see if I am experiencing something similar.
TM1, thanks. I didn't party very much in school, mostly a symptom of ADD and maybe a touch a depression
What is our generation coming to 😔
All of the above. I spent my study time today instead writing my list to talk to the doctor 😂 😢 I put that on the list at the end. I really need to study...
Update: The doctor was extremely nice, I'm going back next week for a prescription
I don't wanna take adderall everyday but it would be nice to take once or twice a week to get ahead of my work
Yeah I take it. It helps me
I have ADHD and take vyvanse
I got myself a prescribed at 26. New doctor made me see the psychiatrist and it took a while, I had to go through a couple non-stimulant prescriptions before they finally did it. If you partied hard in college or do now, lie about it because they don't want to prescribe this stuff to someone who will abuse it.
EY1, a really typical and good way to tell if you have ADD is if you have good days of "hyperconcentration". Days where you get everything done, clean your room, listen and remember things that are said to you. ADD isn't a lack of concentration, it's imbalanced concentration.
I was diagnosed at 16, but took non stimulant meds til 1st yr college. I can't function at work without my Adderall now. I have known several co-worker friends who are prescribed as well. Nothing to be nervous about, just give them enough history and point out where it's affected your day-to-day. For example, are you easily distracted/lose track of time easily/always late? Do you have impulsive tendencies in your behavior? Are you easily agitated/angered? I def struggle with impulsivity & inattention, never have had the hyperactivity aspect though.
I have a hand stim, too, when I get a jolt of energy or excitement. That's hard to keep under control around people
