Anybody at EY tax get forced into a "laptop free" classroom next week at the Q? Getting a little tired of the firm treating us like children.

Trainings at ETU (tax senior managers - partners) are generally laptop free. The firm isn’t treating you like a child. The firm is teaching you how to be respectful during a training. If you need to do work, just leave the classroom.

They spend a shit ton of money to educate you. They want you to actually pay attention and not be distracted.

Thats fine. Just realize this senior classes morale is at an all time low and maybe not the best time really dont care if theres not laptops at ETU.

Are you really that busy right now? Just step out. We don’t use our laptops in the middle of training either (unless it’s one of those day long trainings)

@OP life is full of disappointments and the shitty cancellation of the new senior milestone is no different. It’s very disappointing. But, the firm isn’t going to treat all the new tax seniors with kid gloves while the seniors feel their feelings. This is a job.

Why would you need your laptop if you are in a training class that is not using laptops?

@EY1 I understand and youre absolutely right such is life. Im just going to express my opinion and the shared opinion of the 3-4 peers ive talked to. To tell you this a business day before training when all trainings sense intern havent been that way is bs.At the same staff 2s are here with us.. who do I push down to with little/no guidance during the buisness day? If you told me two weeks ago these were the terms cool I couldve adapted for it. Again anothrr poor communicatiom issue after the training debacle. Its starting to frustrate me and many others.
