First off - I am extremely new to this type of professional networking and it seems to me that more than 85% of the posts are about compensation, career etc…. So, give me a shout out if your are 27 years old have a NW of 40K or less and approx 175k TC or less. Just trying to see if I can find folks sailing in the same boat to explore more career options. My wife makes about 200 ish. Life is ok but feels like I’m starting out a little late ( thank you student loans).

What do you all make and yoe? PE associate. 1.5 banking, 2 in PE. 125 base. 165 bonus. No carry yet. Curious what your numbers are?

Any recommendations of where in Manhattan to find a 1 bed ideally under 3k a month? 27F so would prefer an ideal with bars etc but not full of college kids and concierge/doorman if possible. Thanks!

I come from a non-traditional background, so I don't have any pre-existing connections, and I don't think there's time for me to develop deep enough relationships with students/alumni to ask them to submit endorsements/letters of support for me before the R2 deadline. :/

How many people here have actually used a MBA consultant? Was it worth it for you? For those who didn't use one, how did that fare?

Their services cost a pretty penny but they sold me on their package and it seems like they really care about your development in the application process as well. Additionally, could you also share your experience with financing as well (e.g., did you have to pay everything up front, are their installments based on milestones, etc.)?

How would you feel if your recommender did not acknowledge/thank you for your gift? We have a really good relationship and he’s given me a lot of growth opportunities.

Whats the recommended line length for bullets on the resume portion? Is 4 lines too much? Even 3 lines a bit much? ...By the time I get to stating any numerical outcomes or “why” the accomplishment is special I usually spill over to the 3rd or 4th line. I’m still able to fit resume to 1 page but worried if lots of 3-4 liners are discouraged.

Should essays be written in a narrative (e.g., story) or more as a personal statement? I’ve always been told to show not tell but successful H/S essays I’ve seen have always been personal statement types. Would appreciate any tips!

Has anyone had success negotiating with Wharton for financial aid? It’s the only school I got into but not sure it would be worth it to attend at full sticker price. Of course 100% grateful to be in this position :)

Does having a career mostly in the small business sector hinder my chance of getting into M7? I have good leadership/managing experience and promotions in the past 5yrs. I currently work at a startup as a Product Manager (Director, 3 YOE) and have short term goals of continuing in product management before moving into VC, long term. I have a bit of buy side experience and I am wondering how to convey my goals of going back into PM after an MBA (albeit at a true SaaS company). I went to a non-target school and mainly am going for the network/job opportunities/to escape burnout but don’t know how AdComs will see this. What should I do/convey in my essays?
