Big HF energy 🙃

depends, are you buy side or sell side? I prefer reading opposed to writing

Ahaha, I'm at PGIM, none of that here. We are, however, monitoring a large group of bond names, writing out news updates, credit research, ratings analysis, and numerous other market/admin crap in our "investment thesis." Ends up being a 20+ page deck. 😭

You could also consider going into product strategy? At some firms it’s called client portfolio management. It’s basically a person who specializes in an investment fund/strategy and communicates updates to clients and prospects on that strategy and on the markets that strategy invests in. It can be really fun and leverages those same skills but for a directly revenue-generating purpose.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m at a similar crossroads…spent 3 years in PWM then moved over to buy side equity research where I’ve been for about 6 years. It’s trending on the boring side since I got through the CFA program about a year ago. Not sure from career path/exit ops prospective if sales, portfolio strategy, back to PWM or even pivot to IB (don’t know if that’s even possible) is best.

Far less boring, I was sell side ER before. I cover about 50 names and have 6 different third party data providers, 2 internal, sell side to speak to, corporate access to attend, news to follow. I only skim reports for the high level and chat with industry experts to fill in the gaps. I have never had a boring day here.

Pay also makes anything they’d throw at me worth it

I’m bored of reading it. Can’t imagine how boring it is to put together

Where do you work? I'm in buy side AM and still do tons of writing.

I want to get into research right now I'm retail and just sucks getting trashed by clients all day lol

If u want sell side ER, get LinkedIn premium, apply to all sell side roles, then right after reach out to whoever posted the role (you can see some of the time with premium) or the DOR (you’d need to dig a little) or the analyst to “learn more about the role”

Hi all,

#kpmg#India

In the portal, I can see that I am tagged to a project and the Start Date is 10/Jan/23.

But the status is "Proposed" not "Staffed"
What does that signify?

Moreover, the Project Code starts with "temp"
For eg
Temp-ProjectCode

This is weird as well.

Can anyone suggest what does this means?
Whom should I reach out to, for more info?

Any inputs will be helpful.

Thanks!

Partners/shareholders - how many hours are you expected to bill on work vs client dev and firm/associate management? My firm keeps saying that "there's no such thing as a relationship partner" and everyone top-to-bottom is expected to log 2000 hours/year on real billable work. Marketing etc is done on top of that. Is that normal?! If so, I'm going to have to totally rethink my life goals.

Dilemma… I left my old company 4 months ago. Today, they’ve reached out to me to ask me to come back at a higher role, Operations Manager. I would’ve jumped on this opportunity if they asked me before. However, this role would be hybrid (2x in office) and come along with more responsibilities and hours than my current WFH role which is very chill. The pay is only 15% more than I currently make. Any thoughts?
