Anybody else feel a little sentimental when they realize their toddler has lost their baby memories? For instance, tonight my 3 year old chose a bedtime book that we haven't read in a really long time (maybe 9 months, at least). We used to read this book all the time and he loved it. Tonight, I realized it was like I was reading it to him for the first time. I know we're forming so many great, new memories; but, it made me feel a little sad that some of our beautiful old memories will be lost.

They forget, but you don’t, not for awhile. (Well okay I do - but that’s why I keep a little journal of memories! Every time I read it, it’s like I’m experiencing the joy again.)

This is why people take 2 year olds to Disney. They don’t remember, but I’m over here bawling over how cute it all is.

This would make me so sad! I’m tearing up just reading this. But you’re making amazing memories now. Some of my first memories are from your sons age! Mine is 13 weeks already and time is flying…I’m so sad that his newborn days are over already

I stayed home for four years with my eldest. My husband used to work in the office so it’d just be the two of us all day. Since the pandemic started, my husband has been working from home and we had a second kid at the beginning of the pandemic. My eldest has no memories of when it was just the two of us and it definitely breaks my heart, but what can you do. I did take a lot of pictures of her tho, altho not many selfies with me in it.

like

Yes, I try to remember to take pictures too. I just need to print them. Lol

For sure. And super sentimental of the memories I already don't remember. I wish I could video tape every cute thing they say and bottle up every sweet little snuggle.

I posted here some months back about my ectopic pregnancies but today, I'm posting to tell you all to hang in there and God will do it for you. (Please don't insult me of you don't believe in God because I strongly do).
In a nut shell, we had baby #1 without trying. Started trying for #2 and over 2 years, I had 4 miscarriages and 2 ectopics. In July, my doc informed me that the only way forward was through IVF. I was tired and confused. I PRAYED! and continued trying. (The rest in the comments.)

Annual review advice?
I feel very secure in my long-term employment and am doing very well. I work at a midsized boutique with a generally solid culture. I’ve been described as “rising star/golden child” etc., glowing reviews. The thing is that I’ve had a tough year with absent mentors, low interaction/training (there are extenuating circumstances with my SA.) Do I mention what changes I need to see to stay here? Or just go along, accept my good reviews and bonus, and keep my head down?

what do you talk about in your 1:1s?

I got lucky and now have leadership that seems to care about my career growth, but I'm 1. a little overwhelmed taking over a new role from someone who went on parental leave earlier than expected and 2. not used to thinking outside my day to day job, happy to keep my head down and just produce good work.

most of what I bring up in these meetings are logistical or prioritization concerns but I feel like my manager is expecting a lot more from me.

What is a useful, comprehensive but not too long of a book for parenting toddlers?

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. I’d like to be more proactive about toddler psychology, what’s to come and how to react/ teach. TY!

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work
